Bring your ideas to life and tell powerful stories that make science meaningful, relatable, and felt. Join the 10th Indie-Siyensya Filmmaking Competition and tell meaningful stories highlighting the theme, “𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗹.”

This year’s competition theme focuses on the human dimension of science, recognizing that while borders may limit access to knowledge and opportunity, people continuously shape, interpret, and mobilize science within their own realities. It forwards science as an egalitarian and participatory enterprise (open category), grounded in lived experience (youth category) and aligned with DOST’s commitment.

In his message, Dr. Jayeel S. Cornelio, Director of DOST-SEI, reminds aspiring filmmakers that Indie-Siyensya is more than a competition — it is a platform with purpose. He challenges creatives not just to make films, but to tell stories that amplify voices, question existing narratives, and confront the barriers that make science difficult to access.

More than ever, he calls on science filmmakers, especially the youth, to find the courage to tell the stories that often go unheard. Because in this 10th cycle, the goal is clear: to bring Science Without Borders to life through powerful, meaningful storytelling.

Unveiled by Dr. Ruby Cristobal, Chair of the Board of Judges, this year’s theme puts people at the heart of science — showing how it is shaped by communities, experiences, and real-life needs.

This year, we celebrate science not just as knowledge, but as a human, participatory, and inclusive enterprise. While borders may limit access, people continuously shape, interpret, and mobilize science within their own realities — making it a powerful force for change aligned with the vision of DOST-SEI: Solutions and Opportunities for All.

The 10th Indie-Siyensya officially opens with powerful words from Dir. Jose Javier Reyes of the Film Development Council of the Philippines, as he welcomes filmmakers, students, and science advocates into a space where creativity and scientific knowledge converge.

His message sets the tone for a new cycle — one that calls on storytellers to use their craft to make science more accessible, meaningful, and human.
