Highlighting local advocacies, student researchers of Cayetano Science High School showcased learner-centered projects and community-driven solutions in this year’s LIKHA Exposition 2026.

With the full participation of Grade 12 batch Altiora, the annual research festival was held on March 5, 2026 across section classrooms, featuring studies in biology, physics, robotics and other scientific fields.

Student researchers presented their studies before a panel of seasoned science instructors and veteran educators in a series of research defenses.

Beyond answering questions, the defense also included on-the-spot prototype trials and product demonstrations. Aside from presenting in front of teachers, Cayetanian innovators also extended their knowledge to lower year levels as part of the school’s initiative to instill scientific inquiry among its future researchers.

Towards the end of the program, the Science Club Research Committee (SCRC) commended the efforts of the student researchers.

“Ramdam talaga namin yung effort ng school lalo na at last na rin ito na research fair for the Grade 12 students. In a way, it also reflects the tedious yet fulfilling journey of contributing to a body of knowledge,” says this year’s research committee head, Hana Irlandez.

All featured projects underwent months of preparation under the guidance of Grade 12 research adviser Jimnaira Abanto, who assisted students in validating and testing their studies.

“Hinding hindi makakalimutan ng school itong mga research outputs na nafeature sa LIKHA, from tireless nights to seemingly endless piles of work, all of your hard work and labor Grade 12 Altiora will be remembered!” Irlandez added.

Each new research produced during the festival was successfully documented by the Sky Laboratory Library under the management of the Science Club which holds an archive of all the produced scientific manuscripts within the institution.

Science teachers also encouraged younger students to draw inspiration from the research outputs as they prepare for future LIKHA programs

Earlier that day, Ma’am Abanto even invited juniors herself with her iconic statement, “Lika na sa LIKHA Expo 2026!”

𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 are the official mascots of the SRCCMSTHS, two cheerful tooth characters whose names are creatively derived from molar and ngiti (smile). "Molario" represents strength, protection, and healthy teeth, while "Ngitina" symbolizes joy, confidence, and the beauty of a bright smile. Together, they bring to life the message that strong teeth create happy smiles and healthier communities.

The mascots are deeply anchored in the advocacy of oral health and in the compassionate vision of Taguig City Cares, a city that values not only quality education but also the holistic health and well-being of every Taguigueño. As friendly and relatable ambassadors, Molario at Ngitina make dental care engaging, memorable, and child-friendly, helping transform oral health education into a positive and community-centered experience.

Designed to be distinctive and meaningful, Molario at Ngitina strengthen the identity and visibility of the Dental Section across campaigns, IEC materials, school programs, and community initiatives. They embody prevention, awareness, and care, encouraging children, families, and the wider community to embrace healthy habits and proudly share their smiles.

Excellence in research once again takes center stage as SRCCMSTHS celebrates the outstanding achievement of 𝙂𝙚𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙤 𝙏𝙞𝙯𝙤𝙣, who received the prestigious 𝘽𝙞𝙙𝙖 𝙇𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙨 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 in recognition of his exemplary scientific work.

The recognition is connected to his participation in the STEM Enrichment Program (STEP), which was held on September 12, 2025 at De La Salle Zobel School – Vermosa Campus. The program gathered promising young researchers and innovators, providing a platform to showcase outstanding scientific work and academic inquiry.

The formal awarding ceremony took place on February 14, 2026 at the Philippine Science High School, where George’s research was recognized for its quality, depth, and contribution to scientific exploration. The citation highlights not only his academic competence but also his dedication to rigorous investigation and meaningful innovation.

Guided by his research coach, Ms. Jimnaira Abanto, George demonstrated perseverance, discipline, and a strong commitment to excellence throughout his research journey. His achievement reflects the impact of mentorship and the culture of research-driven learning fostered at SRCCMSTHS.

The school community, led by OIC Principal Dr. Arturo A. Tolentino, Assistant Principal II Rian A. Loriega, and Head Teacher III in Science Sheryl T. Tabernero, continues to champion student research and academic growth. Their collective support strengthens opportunities for young scholars to thrive in competitive academic platforms.
