Building the connective tissue for ASEANβs AI future. πβ¨
As the Philippines transitions from strategy to ex*****on for its 2026 ASEAN Chairship, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and ASEAN-BAC Philippines have successfully concluded a high-level roundtable. This final discussion centered on operationalizing private-sector solutions to enhance regional supply chain resilience and digital integration.
Our 2026 Roadmap: 1οΈβ£ U.S.-ASEAN AI Summit: Setting the regional benchmark for AI Ethics & Governance. 2οΈβ£ ASEAN Center for Applied AI: A new delivery platform to bridge the "ex*****on gap" through shared tools and MSME playbooks. 3οΈβ£ Secure AI & Resilience: Launching a Philippine-led national chapter for secure AI frameworks.
We believe in a "risk-based, interoperable approach" that promotes innovation while keeping our digital corridors secure. The future is collaborative, and it starts here. π΅ππ

We brought the AI conversation to the Rotary Club of Manila β and it was a great one. π
Our very own Dr. Donald Lim, Atty. Mark Gorriceta, and Ms. Catherine Jalandoni joined the club's 24th Weekly Membership Meeting for a panel discussion on "The State of the Nation in AI" β covering everything from where the Philippines stands in AI today, to blockchain innovations, to the opportunities being shaped by these technologies. Big thanks to Mr. Anton Mauricio for moderating a sharp and engaging conversation.
AI advocacy happens one room at a time β and we're showing up to all of them. π΅ππ

Last March 11, we were invited to an important evening. π΅ππ
The Global AI Council of the Philippines joined a reception hosted by H.E. Ambassador David Hartman of the Canadian Embassy, together with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APFC) and Stratbase Institute at Canada's official residence in Makati City.
The discussion centered on building economic security through a stronger Canada-Philippines partnership β covering digital resilience, clean technology, and defence industrial collaboration. For us, digital resilience and AI go hand in hand β and it was encouraging to see these topics front and center in a bilateral setting.
Grateful for the invitation and the meaningful connections made that evening. The work of building an AI-ready Philippines truly takes a village β and sometimes, that village extends beyond borders. π

Another powerful perspective from Prospero C. Naval Jr. at SONAI 2026. π‘
He shared the current state of AI in the Philippines, highlighting how programs at University of the Philippines Diliman are already building a strong pipeline of AI researchers through its MEng and PhD in AI programs. Students are working on projects with real national impactβfrom AI for rice supply policy and cancer detection in colonoscopy to speech and visionβlanguage models.
But the biggest constraint today isnβt talentβitβs compute. With only a few high-performance GPU servers available for research, demand from students and labs is already exceeding capacity. The takeaway: if the Philippines wants to fully unlock its AI talent, the country must invest in national AI infrastructure, supercomputing, and stronger research facilities to support the next generation of innovation.
πStay tuned for more highlights from SONAI 2026.
