Demonstrating its commitment to internationalization and sports excellence, the University of Makati (UMak), through the College of Human Kinetics (CHK) and the Center for Athletic Development (CAD), successfully hosted the annual Strength and Conditioning Seminar featuring Dr. Tim Dornemann of Wesleyan University of North Carolina, USA.
Bringing together students, coaches, professors, athletes, and sports enthusiasts, the seminar served as a platform for knowledge exchange on orginal strength and conditioning practices, athlete preparation, movement efficiency, and evidence-based sports science. Participants gained valuable insights into how proper warm-ups, purposeful movement, and quality-focused training contribute to enhanced athletic performance and long-term development.
Beyond technical learning, the event highlighted the importance of collaboration and international engagement in advancing sports education. Dr. Dornemannโs continued annual commitment to UMak reflects a strong and enduring partnership that provides the University community with access to global expertise and internationally informed practices.
Further strengthening this collaboration, we look forward to the return of Dr. Dornemann next year on behalf of Wesleyan University of North Carolina, USA for the renewal of the partnership with CHK.

The University of Makati (UMak) proudly welcomed 33 delegates (academic leaders and English language specialists) from 30 institutions across Southeast Asia during the ASEAN Benchmarking Visit organized by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy on June 4, 2026, reaffirming its growing reputation as a globally engaged and future-ready institution.
University President Prof. Elyxzur Ramos highlighted in his welcome message the UMakโs unique identity and the vision of becoming a globally recognized local university where quality education drives social transformation, innovation, and inclusive development.
The benchmarking session featured presentations that highlighted UMakโs strategic priorities in internationalization and research excellence delivered by Director Camille Navarro of the Center for International and Global Affairs (CIGA) and Assistant Professor Florante E. The University of Makati (UMak) proudly welcomes the Guangxi University Performing Art Troupe for a special performance on 8 June 2026 (Monday), from 2:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. at the UMak Performing Arts Theater. The University is honored to be the only local university in the Philippines selected to host this prestigious cultural showcase, reflecting its commitment to internationalization and cultural exchange.
Guangxi University Performing Art Troupe frequently collects national and international awards for their breathtaking acrobatics, ethnic dance, and traditional music.

On May 20, 2026, University President Prof. Elyxzur Ramos formally welcomed distinguished guests from WHC Austria: Mr. Guido Hadt, representing a prominent human resource and recruitment firm with offices in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt, and Ms. Teresa Francisco, a representative of the Embassy of Austria and President of People First Consulting. Leading the strategic discussions were Ms. Camille Navarro, Director of the Center for International Affairs (CIGA), and Dr. Henry Magat, Director of the Center for Quality Management and Development (CQMD). Both offices continue to play vital roles in advancing UMakโs internationalization initiatives.
The exploratory discussion centered on creating global career pathways, internship placements, and institutional partnerships in the fields of tourism, hospitality, construction, engineering, and engineering technology. Discussions also explored potential collaborations that could provide students and graduates with broader international exposure, professional training opportunities, and access to employment prospects in the European market and beyond.
