One Grace: Seven Aspects

Palagi natin nasasabi na... “Saved by grace tayo.”
Tama naman po ito. Pero ang problema na nakikita at naoobserbahan ko minsan ay akala po natin, ang "grace" ay para lang sa iisang moment na tinanggap natin si Jesus. Saved by grace tapos yun na yun which is it is far more than that. Yan ang reason why im sharing this to all at nawa i-share mo rin mamaya.

Understanding Seven Theological Descriptions of God’s Gracious Work"
Truthfully, mula sa lahat ng goodness ni Lord sa mundo, hanggang sa salvation natin, transformation natin, even yung endurance or pagtitiis natin sa buhay— that's a proof that "God's grace is always at work."
Take note: Lilinawin ko lang para sa mga magagaling na theologians dyan na hindi po ito “seven different graces” na parang pito ang sources ng grace. Fundamentally, this article teaches there's only "One God. One grace." Different theological descriptions lamang ito ng Kanyang gracious work. At hindi rin po lahat ng Christian churches lalo kung ang pastor ay di naman lahat nakapag-bible school ay gumagamit ng mga terms na ito exactly the same way. Ayan sige, let's start to know "ONE GRACE and its SEVEN ASPECTS!
1. COMMON GRACE — GOD IS GOOD EVEN TO A FALLEN WORLD
“He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good…”
— Matthew 5:45
Kasama sa salitang "grace" o biyaya ng Lord ang araw, ulan, mga pagkain, talents na tinatago mo, creativity na dapat gamitin mo kay Lord, any human relationships, or social order—maraming kabutihan ng Diyos or simply as "grace" ang nararanasan natin bilang mga kristiano and this was told by Jesus where there's grace that was given to all... grace for all believers at unbelievers alike. Anong tawag dito? COMMON GRACE!
Pero wait lang... hindi ibig sabihin na kapag umulan sa graden mo or farm mo ay saved ka na. 😄
Common grace is God’s goodness experienced broadly by humanity, but it is not the same as salvation. Tandaan po natin ito. COMMON GRACE, then next is...
2. PREVENIENT GRACE — GOD MOVES FIRST
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him…”
— John 6:44
Sa Wesleyan-Arminian theology, prevenient grace refers to God’s gracious initiative that comes before our response. Favorite din ito ng Calvinists na kontrahin dahil para sa mga Calvinist at ibang reformed theologians bagamat di naman lahat, baka magdebate nanaman kayo sa comment section dito hehehehe.... ulitin ko ayon sa calvinists ay mga hinirang lamang (the elect) ang nakakatanggap nito. Anyway, pareho naman naniniwala ang dalawang panig sa PREVINIENT GRACE!
Kaya bago natin sabihing, “Hinahanap ko si Lord,” tandaan natin that... "God was already reaching toward us."
Grace goes first. (Bahala na kayo kung iinterpret nyo ito as regeneration goes first before salvation). Saved naman na kayo kaya wag na natin pagtalunan yan. Peace!
3. SAVING GRACE — GRACE BRINGS SALVATION
“For by grace are ye saved through faith…”
— Ephesians 2:8–9
Tinuturo ito madalas ng ating mga pastor at alam na nating lahat na gindi tayo na-saved dahil mababait tayo (nga ba?), active sa church (kaya balik-loob ka na), may ministry (pero wag feeling entitled ha), o kumpleto attendance (pero make sure di ka lang sunday christian).
Malaking "PERO"... Kahit perfect attendance mo sa church or Zoom Bible study, hindi iyon entrance ticket sa heaven. 😄
We are saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ—not by human merit. Remember five solas? Kung di mo pa alam yun, icomment mo ang question "ano yung five solas" for sure maraming mababait na nakabasa nito ang sasagot sayo. Next po tayo...
4. JUSTIFYING GRACE — GOD DECLARES THE BELIEVER RIGHTEOUS
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— Romans 5:1
Ang justification ay parang setting na nasa courtroom tayo at guilty sa kasalanan at dapat mapatawan ng kamatayan pero dahil si Jesus na ang naging ransom o kabayaran gaya ng nasabi sa Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God (free gift, God's grace po yun) is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." ayun tayo ay napawalang sala and made righteous before the eyes of God thru Christ (not self-righteous but it is called)
Justification does not mean na naging perfect ka na overnight.
It means that through Christ, the believing sinner is declared righteous before God.
Hindi dahil flawless tayo. Because Christ is our righteousness. Yan po yung binabanggit ni apostle Paul sa Philippians 3:8-9 "...and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith."
5. REGENERATING GRACE — GOD GIVES NEW LIFE
“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
— John 3:3
Kung ang justification ay parang courtroom, ang regeneration naman ay parang delivery/or birthroom. Where before tayo po ay spiritually dead because of sin but God gave is spiritual birth. Kaya may salitang BORN AGAIN, not just a religion but as an experience.
Christianity is more than behavior modification. Hindi lang: “Dati palaging mainitin ulo ko at kumukulo ang dugo ko, pero ngayon medyo nasa warm mode na lang.” 😄 Kundi, "dati akong patay sa kasalanan pero naBorn again na ngayon."
Tandaan: Regeneration is about new birth—God giving spiritual life.
Sabi nga sa bible... “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
Grace does not merely improve the old life.
God gives us NEW LIFE IN CHRIST. Ayan pang sixth na po tayo...
6. SANCTIFYING GRACE — GRACE CONTINUES TO CHANGE US
“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification…”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:3
Kung ang justification ay parang courtroom at ang regeneraiton ay birthroom or delivery room, ang sanctification naman ay parang Classroom tapos si Jesus ang teacher where He continually teaches us, corrects us, shapes us, and transforms us into Christlikeness. Sa mdaling salita, Change of character. Titus 2:11–12 teaches us also that the grace that brings salvation also teaches us to deny ungodliness and live godly lives. Kaya hindi tayo magsasabing “Saved na ako, bahala na kung paano ako mamuhay,” kundi dahil saved na tayo, nababago at binabago tayo ni Lord "araw-araw."
2 Corinto 4:16 "Kaya nga hindi kami nanghihimagod; bagama't ang aming pagkataong labas ay pahina, nguni't ang aming pagkataong loob ay nababago sa araw-araw."
So grace does not only rescue us from sin’s penalty, grace trains us to live differently... and that's SANCTIFYING GRACE!

7. SUSTAINING GRACE — GRACE IS ENOUGH IN OUR WEAKNESS
“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
May moments na hindi instantly na inaalis ni Lord ang mga problema natin sa buhay but the good news is, binibigyan Niya tayo ng grace para hindi tayo matalo ng problema.
Sometimes we pray: “Lord, alisin Mo itong problema sa buhay ko!”
At minsan ang sagot Niya ay: “I will carry you through it.” Minsan ginamit ko sa sermon "Theme: If you go through it, grow through it"
Parang yung kantang "Kasama natin ang Diyos, di ako matatakot di ako mangangamba,... dumaan man ako sa ilog di ako malulunod, dumaan man ako sa apoy di ako masusunog..." di yan literal ha, baka may magpost nanaman dyan. hehehe! What i mean is, di naman sinabing alisin mo ako sa apoy o wag mo ako idaan sa bagyo kundi dumaan man ako... di tayo absolutely means di tayo masasaktan sa problema at pagsubok pero may assurance tayo na kasama natin ang DIYOS sa kabila ng ating kahirapan at pagdurusa! Ang mahalaga na dapat nating ipasalamat ay nakikita pa natin ang ating magulang may sakit man sila o may sakit ka... mahalaga ay buhay ang anak mo kahit nabuntis man sila ng maaga, ulitin ko, ang mahalaga ay humihinga ka pa... That is SUSTAINING GRACE.
SO AYAN, NAKAPITO NA PO TAYO!
LET ME GIVE AN ILLUSTRATION as CONCLUSION:
ANG GRACE NA PARANG ISANG BARKO
Imagine your Christian journey as a ship traveling toward its destination.
COMMON GRACE is like THE SEA, or sunlight, wind, and environment surrounding everyone—God’s goodness experienced in this world.
PREVENIENT GRACE is like THE CAPTAIN'S CALL that invites you aboard before the journey begins—God takes the initiative.
SAVING GRACE brings you onto the ship—you are rescued from being lost at sea. (Bahala ka na kung ano ang iniisip mo kung malakas ka na kaya mong tanggihan ang calling na ito because this is resistable or irrisistable ito dahil alam mong totally wrecked ka as if di mo kayang lumakad papunta sa barko dahil ikaw ay nalumpo sa kasalanan kaya si Lord ang lalapit na bubuhat sayo. :-)
JUSTIFYING GRACE gives you your RIGHT STANDING ABOARD—not because you purchased the ship, but because Christ made the way.
REGENERATING GRACE gives you NEW LIFE and a NEW IDENTITY—dati ang tawag sayo ay "palaboy, pero nung sumakay sa barko, pasahero na inadopt ng kapitan o may ari ng barko", so you are no longer a drifter without direction but an heir of the captain's treasures.
SANCTIFYING GRACE is the CONTINUING WORK happening during the VOYAGE—training, correcting, shaping, and preparing you.
And SUSTAINING GRACE is the provided WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE from the captain's teaching that keeps you through storms, waves, exhaustion, and moments when you feel like saying: “Lord, pwede bang bumaba muna?” 😄
But here is the most important part:
JESUS IS NOT MERELY ONE PART OF THE SHIP.
Christ is the reason the journey exists, the One who secured our salvation, and the One in whom our hope rests.
Grace begins with God.
Grace comes to us through Christ.
Grace saves.
Grace changes.
Grace sustains.
And when we finally reach the destination, nobody will be able to say: “Ang galing ko, nakarating ako.”
Our testimony will still be: “By the grace of God I am what I am.”
