𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | Today, 𝗻𝘂𝗟𝗮𝗯: 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 was invited by the 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸, together with representatives from the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, for a productive discussion on potential collaborations and innovative approaches to accessible STEM learning in the country.

The meeting provided an opportunity for nuLab to share its experience as a mobile learning platform that brings interactive and immersive STEM education closer to Filipino learners and communities. Discussions also explored the nuLab bus design, learning environment, and implementation approach as part of ongoing conversations on future-ready and community-centered educational initiatives.

As an initiative of the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 – 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲, nuLab continues to champion engaging STEM learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation among students across the Philippines.

We are grateful to the Asian Development Bank for the invitation and for the opportunity to exchange ideas with institutions that share the vision of strengthening STEM education for the next generation. In February, in celebration of the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, the DOST Science Education Institute, through its mobile laboratory nuLab: STEM in Motion, brought hands-on STEM learning to students in Quezon City. Led by Filipina scientists, the sessions highlighted the importance of women’s participation in science and inspired the next generation of Filipino innovators.

The nuLab bus recently brought STEM learning to Ifugao, where students and teachers joined us for hands-on activities and plenty of curious questions.

Students from 𝗦𝘁𝗮. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, and 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 explored the world of rocks, minerals, and Earth’s dynamic processes with 𝗠𝘀. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗚𝗼. Through hands-on observation and discussion in 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, they examined how minerals form, how different rocks reveal Earth’s dynamic past, and how fossils unlock clues about life that existed millions of years ago.

Studying minerals, rocks, and fossils is more than uncovering the past - it’s 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. By learning how Earth’s materials and processes shapes landscapes, influence resources, and preserve traces of life from millions of years ago, students gain the knowledge to 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, and 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹.

Through the 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 session, students from 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 and 𝗥𝘂𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗜. 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 took a closer look at the unseen world, guided by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘆𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼. Through hands-on discussions and explorations, they examined how microbes influence food systems, immunity, and disease prevention.

The session highlighted that 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 - it is about 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 balance, prevention, and the critical role microbes play in sustaining ecosystems and protecting public health.

By strengthening scientific literacy in microbiology, students are 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 about hygiene, environmental stewardship, and community well-being - because sometimes, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁..

That’s exactly what students from 𝗦𝘁𝗮. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, and 𝗥𝘂𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗜. 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 are doing inside the nuLab bus during the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 (𝗜𝗼𝗧) session, facilitated by 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼. With sensors, circuits, and coding, they see 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 and discover that 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 turns curiosity into problem-solving, creativity, and real innovation.

In a world shaped by automation and intelligent networks, students need 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆; they need 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆. Understanding IoT empowers them to think critically about the systems around them and to envision solutions that address real challenges.

Two days after inspiring students in Bulacan, the nuLab bus has arrived in 𝗔𝗹𝗳𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮!

From 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟬𝟮-𝟬𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, students will build, experiment, and discover in 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 (𝗜𝗼𝗧), dive into the invisible world of 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, and explore our planet through 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

With 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 on board, curiosity climbs higher than the terraces - and every student gets to reach new heights! 🪜⭐
