This serves as a portal to FSTC - its activities, events, schedules, announcements, inspirational messages & tips. Inspired by former First Lady, Mrs. Ramos, the Livelihood Training and Productivity Center was constructed at the Veterans Center, Bicutan, Taguig and was launched on July 17, 1997 to conduct vocational courses. The 1st Batch graduated on November 31, 1997 with one hundred seventeen (117) graduates, broken down as follows: Basic Computer - 56; Basic Electronics - 15; Food Trades - 9; Hotel and Restaurant Services - 19; Cosmetology - 11; and Sewing - 7. It was on August 18, 1999 that the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) accredited the courses conducted by FILVETS. The batch of students that first benefited from this accreditation was the 6th Batch, which graduated on April 28, 2000. In the year 2002, FILVETS opened its doors to retiring military personnel to provide them with the skills and knowledge that will help them gain employment or engage in business and become entrepreneurs. FILVETS continuously tries to improve its skills and training facilities, hence on February 23, 2004 through the efforts of its Chairman, Renato S. De Villa, FILVETS acquired a lot with an area of 5,000 square meters located at Pamayanang Diego Silang, Taguig City through a Usufruct Agreement with the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) to house FILVETS offices and the FILVETS Skills Training Center (FSTC). The FILVETS building was constructed by Philippine Army’s 51st Engineer Brigade. It was inaugurated on the 11th day of April 2007 by no less than the Founding Chairman and former President Fidel V. Ramos, together with Congresswoman Cynthia A. Other guests present were Mayor Freddie Tinga, BCDA President Narciso Abaya and FILVETS Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Renato S. De Villa. Batch No. 19 was the first batch of graduates in this new FILVETS building which graduated on November 9, 2007.
