Breaking Waves and Glass Ceilings! 🌊🇵🇭

The 4th International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) Assembly has officially concluded, marking a historic milestone for NAMRIA and the Philippine hydrographic community.

For the first time, the Philippines sent a woman representative to the IHO Assembly. Lieutenant Clarizza Mae B. Biong proudly made history as the first female hydrographer to join the Philippine delegation to this prestigious global gathering.

This landmark achievement, made possible through the unwavering support and leadership of NAMRIA Administrator Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, CESO I, reflects the Agency’s continuing commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and excellence—proving that the future of Philippine surveying is more inclusive than ever.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect. With the IHO reporting that women make up less than 30% of the global hydrographic workforce, a special session on "Empowering Women in Hydrography" emphasized what we already know: diversity isn't just about representation—it leads to more successful and innovative workplaces.

NAMRIA remains proud to lead the way toward a more inclusive, forward-looking, diverse, and resilient maritime future. ⚓✨

Mabuhay from Monaco! The Philippines Takes the Global Stage.

NAMRIA is back on the international hydrographic scene as our delegation represents the country at the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) Assembly in the beautiful Principality of Monaco.

With the steadfast support of NAMRIA Administrator Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, CESO I, our team returns to in-person participation at a historic moment. The Philippines now proudly sits not only as a regular member but as an active Member of the IHO Council, the executive organ that guides the organization's strategic direction between Assemblies.

As the highest decision-making body of the IHO, this gathering brings together 104 nations to set the global agenda for hydrography, nautical charting, and ocean mapping.
