Struggling with Math? We’ve got your back!📐💡

On September 7, 2026, the BS Mathematics program and the Pi-Rates Math Club officially launched CALCULATED CONNECTIONS: A Peer-to-Peer Math Learning Activity!

We brought together 16 awesome students (shoutout to our BASS fam! ) who wanted to conquer Mathematics in the Modern World through a free, easygoing peer tutorial session.

Here’s what went down:

Learned from the Pros: 6 of our brilliant 3rd and 4th year BS Math seniors served as tutors, breaking down tough concepts into super easy, relatable steps. Massive thanks to our BS Math Program Head, Ms. Phoebe Chloe Ramos, for coaching our tutors!

Smooth Vibes Only: Pi-Rates Math Club President Romelyn Fabro and Vice President Jellian Barnachea and other officers with the guidance of Engr. Dexter Macaso, kept everything running without a hitch behind the scenes.

We were also super honored to have the CAS Dean, Dr. James O. Oyando, drop by to show his support!

The Verdict?
Our participants walked away with zero math stress and a whole lot of clarity! They shared that learning from fellow students made a huge difference in understanding Gen. Ed. 103 and gave them the ultimate confidence boost for their studies. 📈💯

LOOK | THINK SPECIAL: Unlocking the Secrets to BS Math Special Problems!🧠📐

Hey, Pi-Rates and BS Math champs! 👋 Big congrats to everyone who tuned in for "THINK SPECIAL: A Webinar on Conceptualizing Special Problems for BS Math Students" last August 15, 2026.

Since we don't do traditional thesis in BS Math—we do Special Problems instead!—this session was the ultimate roadmap to help us gear up, brainstorm smart research topics, and crush our capstone goals! 💪✨

Here’s a quick recap of our star-studded virtual afternoon on Google Meet:

Words of Wisdom & Inspiration:

Ms. Phoebe Chloe Ramos, our BS Math Program Head, kicked things off with warm welcome remarks, setting the perfect tone for early prep!
Inspirational messages were shared by our Campus Director, Dr. Daniel Juan B. Ramirez, through our CAS Dean, Dr. James O. Oyando, reminding us of the power of mathematical research!
Dr. Myrna Valdez gave us an awesome orientation, breaking down what Special Problems are all about and why they matter so much for our degree.

The Main Event:
Our Program Head introduced our amazing guest speaker from Benguet State University, Mr. Michael Angelo Empizo. He dropped absolute gems on how to find research gaps, structure our proposals, and bring creative math ideas to life.

🌧️⚡Weathering the Storm (Literally!):
Despite some rainy weather and minor tech glitches during the stream, Mr. Empizo was a total pro and kept the energy high! Huge shoutout to Engr. Dexter Macaso for keeping the tech running behind the scenes, and Engr. Emily Vizcarra for wrapping up the event with inspiring closing remarks.

The feedback was off the charts! Everyone walked away with clear insights and way more confidence to tackle their upcoming Special Problems.

A massive thank you to the Pi-Rates Math Club, our guest speaker, and all the enthusiastic students who joined! Together, we're making math less intimidating and way more exciting.

Bridging Numbers and Futures: ISPSC Math Team Inspires Graduating Students in Dili and Libtong through Dynamic Career Orientation

TAGUDIN, Ilocos Sur — In a proactive move to mold the next generation of logical thinkers and problem-solvers, academic leaders and faculty members from the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) Tagudin Campus hit the ground running this June 2026. They successfully spearheaded a comprehensive Career Orientation Program for graduating Senior High School students across two key institutions: Dili National High School and Libtong Integrated High School.

The outreach initiative was designed to demystify higher education pathways and showcase the vast, dynamic career opportunities awaiting those who pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics.

Leadership in Action: Bringing Vision Closer to the Youth |
Demonstrating strong institutional support for grassroots academic promotion, the advocacy team was spearheaded by notable college pillars. Headlining the delegation was the newly appointed Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Dr. James O. Oyando, whose presence underscored the administration's commitment to strengthening undergraduate programs and student recruitment.

They were joined by BS Math Program Head Ms. Phoebe Ramos, alongside dedicated program faculty members Engr. Emily Vizcarra and Engr. Dexter Macaso, all of whom brought a wealth of technical perspective and mentorship to the graduating cohorts.

Beyond the Equation: Redefining BS Mathematics |
During the interactive sessions, the ISPSC team challenged traditional perceptions of mathematics as merely abstract or classroom-bound. Instead, the speakers emphasized how a BS Mathematics degree serves as a versatile passport to high-impact industries in the modern workforce.

Dr. Oyando, Ms. Ramos, Engr. Vizcarra, and Engr. Macaso engaged the students in lively discussions detailing how mathematical modeling, data analytics, financial forecasting, and computational problem-solving drive today's global economies. They pointed out that fields ranging from tech development and cybersecurity to actuarial science and scientific research heavily rely on the core competencies built through a solid mathematical foundation.

Furthermore, the team highlighted the distinct advantages of taking up the program at ISPSC Tagudin Campus—emphasizing its rigorous, standards-compliant curriculum, dedicated faculty mentorship, and supportive academic environment designed to transform passionate learners into globally competitive professionals.

Planting Seeds for the Future |
The career orientation concluded with high energy, drawing enthusiastic responses, queries, and college-mapping aspirations from the senior high school attendees. By bringing direct guidance straight to Dili National High School and Libtong Integrated High School, the ISPSC BS Math team not only successfully promoted their flagship program but also ignited a renewed sense of purpose among soon-to-be college students—proving that with the right numerical mindset, the future is indeed infinite.
