August 24, 2026 โ The Department of Psychology of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) โ Tagudin Campus held its Second Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony for the 4th year Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BAP) students as they begin their internship. With the theme, โIlluminating Minds, Inspiring Hearts: A Journey Towards Compassion, Integrity, and Professional Excellence in Psychology.โ
The program began with the marching of the 4th year BAP students and their parents, followed by the faculty members and college officials. Next was the Entrance of Colors. This includes the singing of the national anthem and a prayer led by Ms. Marielle Lee D. Ramos. The program was hosted by Ms. Hannah Pauline B. Alcanciado, faculty member of the Department of Psychology.
Dr. James O. Oyando, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, gave the opening remarks. He welcomed everyone and praised the students for reaching this important part of their studies. After that, Dr. Geraldin V. Reyes from the Psychology Department delivered a speech about the meaning of the pinning. She explained that the pin stands for the studentsโ identity and their promise to become good psychology professionals. She also emphasised the importance of board examination in the field.
The main part of the program was the pinning, led by Dr. Rogelio Quiroga who presented the 4th year BAP students one by one. This was followed by Mr. Brightstar B. Seninโone of the 4th year studentsโwho led his batchmates in saying the Oath of Internship. This was their promise to act with honesty and professionalism during their internship.
To give light to the ceremony, Ms. Blessie Asuncion R. Dolor gave an inspiring speech about the meaning of the candle lighting. She said that the light stands for knowledge, hope, and the students readiness to help as they enter their profession. After this, Ms. Harriette Anna Mae L. Bighanil led the Fervent Prayer asking for guidance and safety for the students as they begin their internship.
In a touching moment, the 4th year students sang โThanks to Youโ by Tyler Collins as a tribute to their parents. They also gave their parents small gifts to show their gratitude for all the support they have given to them. Mrs. Marinel T. Yacapin, a parent of one of the students, then gave a message. She spoke about how proud she was of the students and gave them words of encouragement.
Dr. Omar C. ValenzuelaโHead of the BAP programโgave the closing remarks. He congratulated the students and reminded them of their duties as they start their internship.
The program ended with the singing of the ISPSC Hymn. After this was the Recessional, where the colors, the 4th year BAP students, their parents, the faculty, and the college officials exit to officially close the ceremony.
The Pinning and Candle Lighting marked a significant milestone for the internsโ journey as psychology students. As they begin their internship, they carry with them the values of compassion, and excellence that they learn at ISPSC โ Tagudin
