On September 18, 2026, the 4th Year English Major students, together with our Program Head, Dr. Krisha Angela Omayao, participated in a whole-day orientation on the deployment of Pre-Service Teachers for the Experiential Learning Course, held at the Tagoloan National High School covered court.

This activity equipped the pre-service teachers with essential knowledge, guidelines, and expectations for their upcoming Field Study 1 and 2 immersion, as well as their practice teaching, ensuring they are well-prepared to engage effectively in real classroom settings.

𝐓𝐂𝐂𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞

September 18, 2026 — TCC Ascenders League officers, together with student leaders and Criminology students, participated in the Seminar-Workshop on Active Threat and Attack Response held at Tagoloan Community College. The seminar carried the theme, “Transformational TCCians: Cultivating Competence and Character for a Safer, Crime-Free Campus.” The event aimed to impart knowledge and preparedness to students on what to do during an active threat or attack, emphasizing that every second matters during unexpected situations.

The event commenced with the singing of the National Anthem and a prayer, followed by an introduction to the seminar and its importance by Security Supervisor Prof. Rey James Amba. This was followed by the opening remarks of Officer-in-Charge (OIC) College President Dr. Kharen S. Ungab, highlighting that each of us carries a special responsibility today and has the obligation to cascade what we have learned here to our departments about the protocols when these incidents arise so that everyone is prepared and knows what to do.

Police Lieutenant Kristine Dianne Flores, Deputy Chief of Police, delivered a talk highlighting the role of technology, particularly cellular phones, in influencing students and their potential role in both preventing and contributing to crime.

Meanwhile, Master Police Sergeant Jackilou A. Malagamba discussed the influence of social media and online games, as well as the importance of family guidance in helping students prevent crime. She emphasized the importance of preparedness during threats and attacks, particularly the RHF (Run, Hide, Fight) response. She also highlighted the importance of situational awareness, identifying and describing possible attackers, distinguishing genuine threats from false alarms, and knowing the campus contingency plan when unexpected situations occur.

The Dean of Student Affairs and Services, Prof. Leoneil R. Sulapas, expressed his appreciation to everyone who participated in and helped organize the seminar, as well as to the speakers who shared their knowledge. He also emphasized the role of student leaders, reminding them that they should “not be the first one to run, but the first one to respond.”

Following the discussions, Supreme Student Council President Allysa Jane Costillas led the Mass Student Pledge Against Crime, joined by all participants of the seminar.

The seminar concluded with the closing remarks of Supreme Student Council Deputy Vice President Clark Luna, who expressed his appreciation to everyone who made the event successful and reminded the participants to remain aware, prepared, and safe.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility. The TCC Ascenders League actively participated in the 3rd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) that was held on September 10, 2026 at the Tagoloan Community College campus.

The drill gave faculty, students, and, staff with a chance to practice earthquake safety protocols into practice and build and sustain our readiness for unexpected situations in unexpected times. Every action, from responding to the alarm to following proper evacuation procedures, every step served as reminder that being prepared in advance can make a difference. Strengthening awareness and preparedness helps everyone’s safety on campus or at home.
