The Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) is an international mathematics competition designed for elementary and secondary school students from different countries and regions. It aims to promote interest and excellence in mathematics by providing learners with opportunities to develop their problem-solving, logical reasoning, and critical-thinking skills. HKIMO covers various areas of mathematics, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, and mathematical logic, with questions that emphasize analytical thinking and creative problem solving. The Heat Round was conducted on May 17, 2026 in which three of our mathletes participated the event.

🎉 Congratulations, James Leo M. Doloricon! 🎉

Tagbina National High School proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of James Leo M. Doloricon, a SHS-STEM (Batch 2026) and JHS-STE (Batch 2024) alumnus, for qualifying for the prestigious 2026 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship.

This milestone is exceptionally remarkable given this year's unprecedented selection process. For the first time in its history, DOST-SEI announced a fixed number of scholarship slots prior to the examination. Out of 102,390 hopeful examinees, only 8,500 slots were allocated, resulting in the lowest passing rate in the program's history at a razor-thin ~8%.

Public discussions surrounding the results point to budget cuts and alleged misappropriations of government funds as the driving factors behind the drastically reduced slots (Limos, 2026). While these issues remain highly debated, the reality is clear: many deserving students are left competing for increasingly scarce opportunities. As a nation, we hope that education, science, and scholarship programs will soon receive the strong support they deserve, empowering more talented young Filipinos to build the country's future.

Today, we honor this brilliant success story while remaining hopeful for expanded opportunities for our learners moving forward.

Congratulations, James! Your TNHS family is incredibly proud of you. May this triumph be just the beginning of your grand journey in the service of science, innovation, and nation-building.

Tagbina National High School is now accepting pre-registration for incoming Grade 7 learners who wish to apply for the Special Program in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics – Science, Technology, and Engineering (SPSTEM-STE).

🗓 Pre-registration Period:
April 10–15, 2026
✅ Who may apply?
Incoming Grade 7 learners with:
• 85% or higher average grade in English, Science, and Mathematics
• 83% or higher average grade in other learning areas
• No grade lower than 80% in any grading period

The Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area Mathematical Olympiad (commonly called BBB) is an international mathematics competition that gathers students from different countries to test their problem-solving and analytical skills. “Big Bay Bei” (大湾杯) literally means “Greater Bay Cup.” It is inspired by the development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area. It is open to primary, junior high, and senior high school students. Participants come from 🇵🇭 Philippines , 🇨🇳 China, 🇭🇰 Hong Kong, 🇲🇴 Macau, 🇸🇬 Singapore and other countries.
Donell II R. Polizon, a grade 10 STE student, is our participant in the senior secondary category (G10, 11, 12) and won the GOLD award in both the HEAT Round and the FINAL Round of the BBB. He is one of the 33 Filipino mathletes in the senior secondary category who achieved the GOLD Award in the rigorous and challenging FINAL ROUND of BBB.
