TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur – Tagongon Elementary School celebrated a colorful victory in the 2026 School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Contest as Grade 6 learner Angel Magno secured first place in the Poster Making Contest under the guidance of her coach, Teacher Rhecel R. Lagudas.

The contest was held on July 3, 2026, at the IPCC, Poblacion, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, in line with the 2026 National Disaster Resiliency Month celebration.

This year’s theme, "Naghahanda at Kumikilos para sa Panatag na Bagong Pilipinas," challenged students to turn knowledge and creativity into messages of disaster preparedness and community safety.

Organized by the Local Government Unit of Tagbina through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the SDRRM Contest gathered 17 participating schools across the municipality. It featured three major competitions: DRRM Quiz Bowl, Poster Making Contest, and DRR-IEC Infographics Contest on Early Warning Systems.

Angel’s winning poster stood out among the entries for effectively communicating the importance of disaster education. Under the guidance of Coach Lagudas, her artwork became a powerful visual message promoting resilience, preparedness, and the role of the youth as first movers in building safer communities.

"Abi nako dili siya kalusot, pero dako kog pagsalig sa concept ug haom sa tema ang iyang drawing, ug feel nako maoy nakadako sa points niya," Coach Lagudas said.

The activity served as more than a competition; it became a meaningful platform where learners transformed critical thinking and creativity into advocacy.

Closing the event, the LGU recognized the student participants as champions of resilience and valuable partners in advancing disaster preparedness and community safety.

Tagongon Elementary School extends its deepest gratitude to LCDR Vincent Bryan M. Marcos, PCG, and PCPL Shahani Medel-Marcos for their generous donation of school supplies for our learners. Your act of kindness is more than a gift of materials; it is a gift of hope, encouragement, and opportunity for every child who will benefit from your generosity.

The donated school supplies were handed over by their sister, Ms. Ivy Bless Marcos, and received with the assistance of Mrs. Beatriz V. Campion, School Principal. Through your support, our pupils are better equipped to learn, grow, and achieve their educational aspirations.

Thank you for sharing your blessings and for being partners in nurturing the minds and futures of our young learners. May your generosity inspire others to make a difference in the lives of children and in the community.

Congratulations, Sir Delbert John L. Lindo, on winning 1st Place in the Demonstration Teaching Competition during the International Educators’ Forum (IEF) 2026 held at NEMSU Cantilan.

From your internship days at Tagongon Elementary School, you already showed us what an outstanding teacher looks like β€” prepared, passionate, and truly learner-centered. This win proves your hard work, creativity, and dedication to teaching. You didn’t just represent yourself; you brought honor to Tagongon ES and to all of us.

We, the teaching and non-teaching staff led by our School Principal Ma’am Beatriz Campion, and your Cooperating Teacher Ms. Jeneva L. Algones, along with our learners, are so proud of you. You made us believe that great teaching can inspire not just one classroom, but the whole education community.

May this achievement be the beginning of even greater milestones in your teaching journey. The future of education is in good hands with teachers like you, Sir Delbert.

Congratulations once again!
Tagongon ES celebrates with you! ❀️
