📌On September 28, 2024, Bohol Island State University (BISU) enthusiastically participated in the World Bamboo Tree Planting event in partnership with the Lila LGU and JCI. BISU had the largest number of volunteers (LTS students BTVTEd& BTLEd), demonstrating its strong commitment to environmental preservation. The activity was supported by BISU officials, including President Dr. Anthony Penaso, VP for Research and Extension Dr. Ivy Mangaya-ay, University Director for Extension Services Dr. Lloyd Tejano, and Campus Extension Director Prof. Pial Lougel Lopez and Dr. Samuel Gulayan Campus Director. LTS and ROTC coordinators Prof. Leonardo Casas and Dr. Dario Gawala and CTE Dean Dr. Renario Gule Hinampas Jr. alongside LTS faculty members Prof. Jolliven Jamilo, Prof. Genel Polbos, and Dr. Norielou Pinoliad, with the valuable assistance of Ms. Iris and BISU’s dedicated driver. The collaborative effort made the event truly memorable, as the BISU community united with local partners to contribute to this significant environmental initiative.

The Bohol Island State University (BISU) Main Campus College of Teacher Education and College of Technology Extension and Services group conducted a Training Needs Assessment (TNA) Survey at the Bohol District Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to identify key areas for skills development among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). The assessment was made possible through the support of University President Dr. Anthony Penaso, Vice President Ivy Corazon Mangaya-ay, University Director Lloyd Tejano, and Campus Extension Director Prof. Pia Lougel Lopez. The deans, Dr. Renario Hinampas Jr. of the College of Teacher Education and Dr. Jessie Nigparanon of the College of Technology, also played vital roles in the initiative.

The TNA was held at the BJMP facility, led by JSUPT Tomas G. Diaz, DPA, and other BJMP officials who facilitated the smooth conduct of the survey with the cooperation of the PDLs. The BISU team comprised Department Chairperson Dr. Marice Climaco, Dr. Jo-Ann S. Ingking, Prof. Jolliven Jamilo, Prof. Louie Quidlat, Prof. Genel Polbos, Prof. Jesus Dosdos, Dr. Vivencio Calixtro, Prof. Jess Carlo Banal, Prof. Junel Tagud, Prof. Nicole Louisse Faustor, Dr. Jonathan Tayabas, and Dr. Mark Joseph Dellosa. The team was further supported by Miss Iris and the University driver, ensuring logistical efficiency.

The purpose of the TNA was to assess the specific training needs of PDLs at BJMP, particularly in terms of literacy, numeracy, technical skills, and personal development. This initiative will serve as the foundation for future extension projects aimed at equipping the PDLs with skills that can contribute to their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

📌Received a Plaque and Certificate of Recognition

On May 29 and 30, 2024, the CTE of BISU Main Campus Research and Extension group received a plaque and certificate of recognition from our partner schools, Totolan Elementary School and Mansasa National High School during the recognition rites. This inspires and motivates us to continue and expand our community service efforts.

This event is supported by Dr. Joann R. Talo, program chairperson, and Dr. Renario Hinampas Jr., CTE Dean prof Mearie Jean Faustino and Dr. Lloyd L. Tejano Univ Extension Dir. The love of the CTE family for Mansasa National High School endures, bringing education beyond the classroom.

Tejano University Extension Dir. The love of the CTE family for Totolan Elementary School continues, bringing education beyond the classroom.

Bridging Academia: BISU-MC's Collaborative Tutorial Initiative at Mansasa National High School

In a collaborative effort to enrich academic experiences, the Bohol Island State University - Main Campus (BISU-MC) extended its reach to Mansasa National High School, spearheaded by Dr. Renario Hinampas, the College of Teacher Education Dean, alongside Dr. Jocecar Lomarda and Dr. Jo-Ann S. Ingking, respectively the CTE Extension and ITSO Chairperson.

Joined by the dedicated team of educators and driven by the passion for knowledge dissemination, the initiative welcomed Prof. Ma. Yvora Lapore and the BSEd Mathematics students from BISU-MC. Together, they embarked on an engaging Catch-Up Friday tutorial session at Mansasa National High School, fostering an environment of mutual learning and growth.

Under the guidance of Dr. Florafel Datoy, the Head Teacher of Mansasa National High School, the collaborative endeavor proved to be both productive and enduring. Through interactive teaching methodologies and personalized attention.
