Happy 24th Founding Anniversary, Cogonians!
Cogon National High School, formerly known as Cogon Night High School, was established on July 2, 2002, through the initiative of the Cogon Barangay Council under the leadership of former Barangay Captain Alberta C. Torralba.
The school was originally created to cater primarily to working students who were unable to attend regular daytime classes. At the time, applicants were required to present proof of employment before they could be admitted. This requirement was necessary to secure approval for the school's establishment, as regulations did not allow the opening of another public high school within a 100-meter radius of an existing public high school. For this reason, the institution was established as a night high school, providing educational opportunities for working youth while complying with existing policies.
During its inaugural school year, the school welcomed 123 first-year students, who were divided into two sections: Charity and Hope.
For its first year of operation, classes were conducted in classrooms at Cogon Elementary School. During its second school year, the school temporarily transferred to DCPNHS (formerly Bohol National High School), utilizing classrooms in the historic Gabaldon Building. At that time, the school had expanded to two first-year sections and two second-year sections, reflecting its steady growth in enrollment.
The pioneering faculty members who laid the foundation of the school were Maria Donabel Cabalit, Ida Castaño (from Bohol National High School), Delia Cinchez (from Bohol National High School), and Publio Acain (from City Science High School). Through their dedication and commitment, they helped establish a culture of quality education and service that continues to guide the institution today.

Over the past 24 years, Cogon National High School has evolved from a small night high school serving working students into an institution committed to providing accessible and quality secondary education. Its journey reflects the dedication of its founders, school heads, teachers, students, parents, alumni, and community partners, whose collective efforts have shaped the school's legacy of excellence.
