FabLab (fabrication laboratory / fabulous laboratory) is a workshop/studio offering digital fabrication. FabLab is generally equipped with an array of flexible computer controlled machines and tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make “almost anything”. FabLabs have since then been established in several countries and has grown into a global network of local labs enabling product invention and innovation by providing access to tools for digital fabrication. Fablabs share an evolving inventory of core capabilities to make (almost) anything, allowing people and projects to be shared. The FabLab network provides operational, educational, technical, financial and logistical assistance beyond what is available within one lab. FabLabs are available as a community resource offering open access for individuals and businesses as well as scheduled access for programs and services. Fablab Bohol is located in Bohol Island State University - Main Campus, CPG Avenue, Tagbilaran City, Bohol Philippines.

In our recent Callado Making Workshop with Boholano furniture makers, architects, and design professionals, participants explored how traditional Callado patterns can be transformed into digital designs and brought to life through CNC routing. By blending local craftsmanship with modern technology, we create new opportunities to preserve, celebrate, and pass on Bohol’s rich cultural heritage to future generations.

From learning the fundamentals of CNC routing to creating prototypes, our participants explored how digital fabrication can enhance craftsmanship, efficiency, and innovation in furniture making.

As the workshop concludes, we look forward to continuing our support for Boholano furniture makers through digital fabrication, design innovation, and product development.

Today, we introduced the power of digital fabrication and explored how FABLAB technologies can enhance furniture production through greater efficiency, accuracy, and access to modern industry tools.

The session focused on how FABLAB can support their projects, streamline workflows, and help transform ideas into high-quality products. By embracing digital fabrication, local furniture makers can unlock new possibilities and bring their craft to its full potential.

Tiny hands, big ideas! ✨

Our young makers experienced the full creative journey at FabSummer 2026: Junior Makers Edition, from clay sculpting, 3D scanning, and 3D printing to packaging design and toy branding!

The workshop introduced kids to creativity, technology, and basic branding in one fun hands-on experience, with their custom toy creations taken home at the end of the day.
