🌱BISU Main Campus Joins Trees for Unity 2026 Mangrove Growing Activity🌱

In support of environmental conservation and sustainable community development, approximately 110 teaching and non-teaching personnel of Bohol Island State University (BISU) Main Campus actively participated in the Trees for Unity – Mangrove Growing Activity held on June 25, 2026, at Poblacion Norte, Clarin, Bohol.

The activity was conducted in celebration of Sandugo sa Bohol 2026 (Atiman Stream), Philippine Environment Month, and Philippine Arbor Day, bringing together stakeholders in a collective effort to protect and restore Bohol’s vital coastal ecosystems through mangrove rehabilitation.

More than planting trees, this initiative symbolizes unity, environmental stewardship, and our shared responsibility in building a greener and more resilient future for the next generations.

Together, we plant hope. Together, we nurture the environment. 🌿

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh), through the Bohol Renewable Energy Board (BREB) and the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO), conducted a Stakeholder Consultation and Validation Workshop for the Bohol Renewable Energy Assessment and Mapping Project (BREAM) on April 16, 2026 at Panda Tea Garden Suites.

The activity marked a significant milestone in the province’s two-year strategic initiative in partnership with Bohol Island State University (BISU) to develop a comprehensive geo-referenced Renewable Energy (RE) Map for Bohol.

The workshop gathered representatives from national government agencies including the DENR, DOE, DA, DAR, DPWH, DILG, NIA, and NGCP, alongside Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (MPDCs) and distribution utility representatives, to support collaborative planning for the province’s renewable energy future.

Project BREAM aims to assess and consolidate the province’s renewable energy potential for solar, wind, biomass, and hydro development through a science-based and GIS-driven approach. The initiative integrates technical data such as topography, transmission infrastructure, and land-use considerations to guide the evaluation of future renewable energy projects.

The consultation workshop strengthened coordination among stakeholders and aligned technical research with the province’s long-term sustainability and energy development goals aligned with PGBh’s Strategic Governance Roadmap under the leadership of Gov. Aris Aumentado.

Through continued collaboration with BISU and partner agencies, the project establishes a data-driven framework for resilient and environmentally responsible energy planning.

As the country’s first UNESCO Global Geopark, Bohol continues to promote sustainable development initiatives that balance environmental protection, climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth.

BISU-Main Campus proudly joined the Extension 101 Training-Workshop themed “Strengthening Community Engagement through Responsive and Sustainable Extension Programs.” Organized by the Extension Unit of BISU-Candijay Campus over two enriching days, the event featured Dr. Marcia Corazon P. Rico, Director of the Extension Management Division at Bicol University, as the guest speaker.

Participants from various campuses explored the foundations of extension and key principles for executing initiatives. The main highlight was each campus's successful presentation of their extension project proposals, with outputs critiqued by Dr. Rico, along with Dr. Ivy Corazon A. Mangaya-ay, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, and Dr. Lloyd L. Tejano, University Extension Director—making the training truly insightful!

Indeed, Bohol Island State University is committed to fostering stronger, sustainable community ties. 🌟
