The BISU Cash For Work, a program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), was formally recognized during the Year-End Program Implementation Review cm Gawad KALAHI Awards 2025, held on December 16 at Solea Mactan Cebu Resort, Cordova, Cebu.

The award highlights BISU’s commitment to effective program implementation, accountability, and meaningful community engagement. The activity was attended by JOSEPH I. SALIGAN, JD, EdD, University Director of Alumni Relations, representing the institution in this significant gathering of partner agencies and stakeholders.

Bohol Island State University (BISU) – Main Campus, in collaboration with MinebeaMitsumi (Cebu Mitsumi, Inc.) MRI-Special Economic Zone, successfully hosted a Special Recruitment Activity (SRA) on August 20, 2025. Open to BISU graduates, alumni, and applicants from other institutions such as Holy Name University (HNU) and the University of Bohol (UB), the event promoted inclusivity and collaboration in providing career opportunities within a leading global manufacturing company.

The recruitment process included a company orientation, application screening, written exams, and interviews, offering candidates a chance to demonstrate their skills and readiness for roles in the manufacturing sector. Dr. Joseph I. Saligan, JD, EdD, Director of Alumni Relations, represented BISU and emphasized the importance of building strong industry-academic linkages to enhance graduate employability.

More than just a hiring event, the SRA highlighted MinebeaMitsumi’s commitment to investing in local talent and supporting regional economic development. It also showcased the dedication of BISU and its partner universities to producing globally competitive graduates, reinforcing their role in bridging education and industry demands.
