✠ January 15, 1909 — Steyl, The Netherlands

Moved by a deep desire for the unity of all Christians, the preaching of the Gospel, and the establishment of the Church among those who have yet to hear about Christ, this German diocesan priest founded the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) in 1875 at Steyl, The Netherlands.

Recognizing the vital role of women in mission, he later founded the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS) in 1889 and the Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration (SSpSAp) in 1896.

Inspired by his missionary vision and commitment to Catholic education and evangelization, the Arnold Janssen Catholic Mission Foundation, Inc. (AJCMFI) continues his legacy today through its mission of education on the margins, especially through its work in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and other mission programs.

He is the patron saint of missionaries, educators, scientists, and print media.

The Certificate in Biblical Studies (CBS) program is now accepting registrations for its second semester! This program is a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Sacred Scriptures through the guidance of biblical exegetes who are members of the Catholic Biblical Association of the Philippines.

Classes start on January 11, 2025 and end pn May 10, 2025. Classes are held every Saturday at the Diocesan Shrine of Jesus the Divine Word, Christ the King Seminary Compound, E. Rodriguez, Sr. Ave, Quezon City

Designed to explore the Scriptures in their historical context, composition process, interpretation, and theological significance, the program offers the following enriching courses:

Dear friends, I'd like to invite you to join the Certificate in Biblical Studies (CBS). This is a new bible study program that will start next month (August 2023) and is spearheaded by the Diocese Shrine of Jesus the Divine Word in partnership with the Diocese of Cubao Biblical Apostolate (of which I'm presently the director), the Catholic Biblical Association of the Philippines (CBAP) and SVD institutions - SVD Biblical Apostolate, Christ the King Seminary (onsite venue), and Divine Word Seminary Tagaytay.

R.I.P. Fr. Dante Venus, SVD, 73

The SHPS community with its SVD priests' team mourns the passing away of Fr. Dante Venus, SVD.

Fr. Dante died in Jerusalem while accompanying a group of Filipino pilgrims.

At the time of his death, Fr. Dante worked for the Divine Word Mission Institute (DWIMS) in Tagaytay City.

Eternal rest grant unto Fr. Dante, O Lord. May he rest in peace.
