OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT | REGIONAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE 2026

Taft National High School proudly celebrates a historic milestone as Angelique Pico emerges as First Place โ€“ Editorial Writing (English) at the 2026 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC), Eastern Visayas Region, together with her coach, Lloyd Jefferson Cecogo.

This remarkable victory marks Taft National High Schoolโ€™s return to the National Schools Press Conference after eight years, with the schoolโ€™s last national qualification recorded in 2018. Angelique Pico will represent Taft National High School and the Eastern Samar Division at the 2026 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) in Ormoc City, carrying with her the voice, values, and journalistic excellence of the school community.

This achievement is the product of collective dedication, disciplined mentorship, and sustained institutional support. It reflects the schoolโ€™s commitment to nurturing learners who are critical thinkers, ethical writers, and responsible communicators in an increasingly complex media landscape.

The school extends its sincere appreciation to Mrs. Sylvia Doloo, District-in-Charge, Mr. Emil Adena, School Principal, and Maโ€™am Pearl Macalalad, Head Teacher of the Languages Department, for their consistent leadership and unwavering support to the Budyong Tubignon publication, its members, and coaches. Deep gratitude is likewise expressed to Dr. Antonio Delos Reyes, Schools Division Superintendent; Dr. Raymund Capacite, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; and Maโ€™am Marcosa Lavado, Division Secondary Journalism Coordinator, for their guidance, direction, and commitment to excellence in campus journalism.

Special recognition is accorded to the Local Government Unit of Taft, through Hon. Gina Alzate-Ty, Municipal Mayor, and Sir Khyle Amancio Ty, for their continued partnership and generous support in providing resources for campus journalism trainings and competitions. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to the parents and guardians for their unwavering trust, encouragement, and sacrifices, as well as to the SPTA Taft Federated, whose support strengthens the vital collaboration between school and community.

The school likewise acknowledges Sir Justine Jake Eriodico, Sir Jonathan Abogado, and the Rimando family for ensuring safe transportation during the competition, and Mrs. Luzviminda Lawas, School Nurse, for her attentive care, guidance, and support throughout the RSPC.

This milestone achievement is humbly dedicated to the Budyong Tubignon publication, the Taft National High School community, the Eastern Samar Division, and above all, to God, whose grace and guidance made this success possible.

Taft National High School remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding journalistic excellence, critical thinking, and ethical campus journalism as it continues to nurture future voices of truth and leadership.
