Safety in Action: TSAT Personnel Attend SERT Seminar for Crisis Response
The Tadian School of Arts and Trades (TSAT) teaching and non-teaching personnel participated in a School Emergency Response Team (SERT) Seminar-Workshop held September 11, 2026 at the TSAT Conference Hall.
Conducted by the Tadian Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and funded by the Tadian Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), the workshop focused on equipping school personnel with practical skills to strengthen the campus’s ability to respond to crises such as medical emergencies, fires, and injuries.
The program opened with a prayer led by Glory M. Pal-og, JHS Department Head, followed by opening remarks from SFO2 Lloyd Adan B. Quiocho.
FO1 Julius B. Baguilod introduced the participants to SERT, discussing its background and organizational structure, emphasizing the importance of having an organized response system within the school community.
Then, the training proper started with Basic Life Support, led by William Wap Junior, Training Officer of the Tadian DRRMO. The session covered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO).
FO1 Brent Roi K. Acab demonstrated proper CPR before teaching and non-teaching personnel practiced the procedure themselves. A question-and-answer forum followed the demonstration.
Baguilod also facilitated the session on fire extinguisher operation, covering the parts and functions of the equipment, proper handling and maintenance, and proper operation.
Meanwhile, the Standard First Aid session focused on basic bandaging for injuries such as burns and fresh wounds, as well as patient transport techniques. Participants learned one-man, two-man, and three-man carries and packaging a victim in a carrier before transport through demonstrations and hands-on practice.
The seminar-workshop concluded with an evaluation and reflection session, allowing participants to share their takeaways. Quiocho formally closed the program.
