“Be brave, work together, and serve others.” This was the resounding message of School Principal I Faith C. Somcio as New Isabela Central Elementary School (NICES) kicked-off its 2-Day Joint BSP and GSP School-Based Camporal on August 21, 2026, emphasizing courage, cooperation, and service as the scouts face challenges throughout the two-day activity.

Anchored on the theme “Be Prepared: Scouts for Peace and Sustainable Development,” the camporal brought together young scouts in a meaningful experience designed to develop their skills, discipline, teamwork, and commitment to service.

In her message, Somcio encouraged the scouts to remain cheerful and resilient even when circumstances become difficult.

“𝚆𝚑𝚎𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚝𝚊𝚜𝚔𝚜 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚍, 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚐𝚎𝚝𝚜 𝚝𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑, 𝚔𝚎𝚎𝚙 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚎𝚛𝚏𝚞𝚕 𝚜𝚙𝚒𝚛𝚒𝚝. 𝙼𝚊𝚐𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚖𝚊𝚝𝚊𝚙𝚊𝚗𝚐, 𝚖𝚊𝚐𝚝𝚞𝚕𝚞𝚗𝚐𝚊𝚗… 𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚝𝚑 𝚒𝚜 𝚋𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚠𝚑𝚎𝚗 𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚛𝚎𝚍. 𝙻𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚋𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚂𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚝𝚜 𝙻𝚊𝚠,” Somcio reminded the scouts.

Her words highlighted that scouting is not merely about learning outdoor skills but also about developing courage, cooperation, and character.

Meanwhile, Elma P. Limbungan, GSP-SK Vice President for Fund Development, reinforced the value of service, reminding the scouts to always be ready to help others.

“𝙰𝚕𝚠𝚊𝚢𝚜 𝚋𝚎 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚢 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚘𝚏 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚒𝚌𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚜,” Limbungan said.

She also recognized NICES’ active involvement in scouting activities, noting that “ang NICES ay palaging handa sa scouting activities” and consistently participates in council programs, including last year’s Tagisan ng Talino.

The opening day featured simultaneous scouting activities, including knot tying, hand and whistle signals, and a coloring activity. These activities provided the scouts with opportunities to develop practical skills, attentiveness, creativity, teamwork, and discipline in an engaging camp setting.

The activity also carries the enduring scouting principle of its founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell:

𝑵𝑰𝑪𝑬𝑺 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝑺𝑲𝑾𝑫 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒆-𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑫𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏

Teaching and non-teaching personnel of New Isabela Central Elementary School (NICES) participated in the tree-planting activity spearheaded by the Sultan Kudarat Water District (SKWD) on July 21, 2026, in support of the district’s Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Program and as part of the celebration of its upcoming 43rd Foundation Anniversary.

During the activity, Sir Melvin S. Ballentes, SKWD Division Manager, together with the NICES personnel planted 15 fruit-bearing trees, consisting of mango, lanzones, mangosteen, and rambutan seedlings. The initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability, strengthen climate resilience, and encourage the preservation of natural resources through community participation.

NICES was among the 16 schools selected across the Province of Sultan Kudarat to participate in the program. Of these, 10 schools are from Tacurong City, highlighting the city’s active involvement in environmental conservation efforts led by SKWD.

The tree-planting activity underscored the shared commitment of the education sector and the Sultan Kudarat Water District in fostering environmental stewardship among schools and communities. Beyond contributing to a greener campus, the fruit-bearing trees are expected to provide long-term ecological and educational benefits for future generations.

Through initiatives such as this, SKWD continues to strengthen partnerships with educational institutions while advancing its advocacy for climate change adaptation, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒈𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝑵𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒚𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒕 𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒏, 𝑰𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒂 𝑩𝒖𝒘𝒂𝒏 𝒏𝒈 𝑵𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒚𝒐𝒏

Bilang pakikiisa sa taunang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Nutrisyon ngayong Hulyo, matagumpay na inilunsad ng paaralan ang iba’t ibang gawain na nakatuon sa temang “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaan.” Layunin ng programang ito na mapalawak ang kamalayan ng mga mag-aaral sa kahalagahan ng wastong nutrisyon at pangangalaga sa kalikasan.

Sa isinagawang flag ceremony, pinangunahan nina Ma’am Analyn S. Albento, School Clinic Coordinator, at Ma’am Faith C. Somcio, School Principal, ang mga gawaing pampasigla kung saan nagsagawa siya ng trivia games kaugnay ng nutrisyon. Masiglang nakilahok ang mga mag-aaral at nabigyan ng pagkakataong maipamalas ang kanilang kaalaman, habang ang mga nagwagi ay tumanggap ng mga papremyo.

Ayon kay Ma’am Albento, mahalagang maitanim sa murang isipan ng mga bata ang kahalagahan ng tamang pagkain at pangangalaga sa kapaligiran upang magkaroon ng malusog na pangangatawan at maayos na kinabukasan.

Samantala, inaasahan naman ng mga mag-aaral ang iba’t ibang aktibidad na nakahanda sa bawat linggo ng buwan ng Hulyo.

More than a venue for organizational matters, the 1st General Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Assembly of New Isabela Central Elementary School (NICES) became a platform for strengthening home-school collaboration as parents, teachers, local officials, and other external stakeholders gathered to discuss learner safety, health, discipline, and shared responsibility in education.

Leading the assembly last June 4, Ma’am Faith C. Somcio, P-1, underscored that meaningful collaboration between families and the school remains vital in ensuring every learner’s holistic growth, safety, and academic success.

School officials introduced several measures to strengthen campus security and student welfare. School Guidance Coordinator Ma’am Veronica Del Prado announced that bag inspections will be conducted upon entry to the school premises as part of the school’s efforts to ensure the safety of learners, personnel, and visitors.

Meanwhile, Sir Benjamin Goloyugo reiterated school policies on campus access, emphasizing the implementation of vehicle or car passes for school personnel and visitor’s passes for parents and guardians entering the school.

Preparedness and health initiatives also took place during the assembly. DRRM Coordinator Ma’am Monalyn Lopez led stakeholders in an earthquake drill orientation to reinforce emergency preparedness. She likewise explained the selection process for beneficiaries of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) and reminded parents of the school’s healthy food policy, stressing that soft drinks and junk foods are prohibited inside the campus.

Commending the strong turnout of parents, Vice Mayor Atty. Ralen Tabusares-Bernardo described the attendance as a testament to parents’ commitment to their children’s education.

“Ang kabataan ang pag-asa sang bayan, pero hindi maglambo ang kabataan kung wala ang mga ginhikanan kag eskwelahan,” the Vice Mayor said, emphasizing that the shared efforts of families and schools shape the future of the youth.

Demonstrating the city’s support for education, City Councilor Hon. Laurel “Atch Abbie” D. Abe, chairperson of the Committee on Education, pledged to sponsor the PTA membership fees of 20 selected parents, encouraging greater participation in school programs.

Health services available to learners and their families were likewise presented. Michael John G. Arquiza, PhilHealth YAKAP Coordinator, introduced the benefits and registration process of the YAKAP program, while Illaine Biona Cyril Rico, Rural Midwife from the Barangay New Isabela Health Center, discussed the “Bakuna sa Eskwelahan” program, which offers free Tetanus-Diphtheria (Td) and Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccines for Grade 1 learners and HPV vaccines for Grade 4 learners, subject to parental consent.

Addressing responsible parenting, PSSG Mary Eileen Bautista, a PTA officer, reminded parents that discipline begins at home. She encouraged them to monitor their children’s social media activities and peer relationships while discussing the provisions of Republic Act 9344 (Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act) and citing the recent Tacloban shooting incident as a reminder of the importance of active parental guidance.

The assembly also recognized the accomplishments of the outgoing PTA leadership. Outgoing PTA President Vergel Q. Antolin thanked parents and stakeholders for their unwavering support in bringing positive developments to the school, while PTA Treasurer Marites Villar presented the association’s financial report to ensure transparency and accountability.

Newly elected PTA officers for School Year 2026–2027 formally took their oath of office before the incoming PTA President Kenneth Roy Bogador delivered a message calling for continued unity and active participation among parents in advancing programs that benefit the school community.

During the open forum, Ma’am Somcio addressed parents’ concerns and clarified questions regarding school policies and ongoing initiatives, reaffirming the school’s commitment to collaborative decision-making.

The assembly concluded with a raffle draw, ending the day’s activities on a celebratory note while reinforcing NICES’ vision of fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment through strengthened partnerships with parents and the community.
