The 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 officially convened for their 𝗜𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, marking the beginning of a new chapter in student leadership and service.

More than just a gathering, this inaugural meeting served as a 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗽𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀, 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, centered on three key pillars:

𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭 | 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏8, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔— The 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 - 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓-𝐈𝐀𝐒) conducted a site visit yesterday, 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏7, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐚𝐭 𝟏:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌, as part of the ongoing Compliance, Operations, and Management audit for the 𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐂𝐒𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Marking his first official project visit as university president, 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐂𝐲𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐄. 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞ñ𝐚, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐙𝐢𝐥𝐣𝐢𝐡 𝐒. 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚, PhD, and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐌. 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐩, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, to facilitate the official audit in accordance with the project's letter of intent for the DOST-funded research initiative titled “𝒆𝑫𝑵𝑨 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒐𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒕𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒚, 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒆𝒔 𝑺𝒆𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂-𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒍 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒆, 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒐, 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔.” The audit visit is to ensure full cooperation, facilitate the inspection of project documents and financial records, and engage directly with key project personnel.

This major accomplishment has brought immense pride to the entire SKSU Biological Society, serving as an inspiring testament to what dedication, scientific rigor, and collaborative research can achieve. The society celebrates the project team’s outstanding contributions to marine conservation and biodiversity research, which continue to elevate the university's academic prestige and motivate aspiring student researchers to pursue excellence in the biological sciences.

The activity concluded as a highly successful audit, with the team receiving formal clearance. The auditing body commended the project team for completing the research strictly on schedule and successfully publishing their findings in an international, Scopus-indexed journal. In their official communication, DOST expressed deep gratitude to Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) and conveyed high hopes for a continued and strong institutional partnership.

𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐔𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐀 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐒

The Biological Society officially welcomed the Academic Year 2026–2027 through SaluBIOng 2026, held on August 13, 2026, at Laboratory 3, Science Building.

The program brought together Biology students for an orientation focused on academic responsibilities, student welfare, laboratory safety, career opportunities, and the direction of the department for the coming academic year.

Former Department Chairperson April Kris D. Delacruz, MiB, led the discussion on the Student Manual, providing students with an overview of their rights, responsibilities, and institutional guidelines.

Meanwhile, Department Chairperson Zhiljih Molina, PhD, shared insights on career opportunities and professional development in Biology. The new program chairperson also delivered a message of guidance and support for the students.

Prof. Leila Mendoza, MAT, discussed laboratory policies and safety protocols, emphasizing the importance of proper conduct and responsibility in laboratory settings.

The orientation also featured icebreakers and trivia facilitated by Beatrix Thea Bustillos, Cassandra Nicole Pangantihon, and Alvirmae Theresa Rubin, giving students an opportunity to interact and become more acquainted with their fellow Biolistas.

The program concluded with the recognition of outgoing officers and speakers, the presentation of new leadership candidates, and closing remarks from Vice President Prinze Kleizzer Dominic Labrillaso.

SaluBIOng 2026 marks the beginning of another academic year for the Biological Society, with a renewed focus on student engagement, academic growth, and responsible leadership.
