Around 20 children and youth of Barangay Upper Katungal in Tacurong City will be equipped with literacy and numeracy e-leaning activities which commenced last March 5, 2022. The duration of this initiative will run every Saturdays of March and April 2022 and intends to capacitate and empower the childrenโs literacy and numeracy skills using e-learning activities amidst the pandemic.
Literacy and numeracy have been identified with an important role in the development of every child. Itโs their right to be able to read and to write regardless of poverty and other external factors. With the pandemic still havocking the world and schools are still close, learning is crucial and it is essential to create programs that would help the children while they are at home with their parents. This is where Ariane Jane C. Belano, Floro A. Belano, and Joan Kate C.Gulmayo, school teachers of Department of Education (DepED), volunteers of Positive VIBES, found inspiration and initiated this E-learning Wheels for Numeracy and Literacy project in the locality.
Previous three rides and the coming rides revolve around capacitating the participants of the necessary knowledge and skills on numeracy and literacy skills, discussions every session for sharing and learning exchange, exploring and learning actual situations of the communities through field visits, and to further promote numeracy and literacy in the respective communities of the participants.
