𝓝𝓓𝓢𝓒𝓣'𝓢 𝓢𝓖𝓞 𝓞𝓕𝓕𝓘𝓒𝓔𝓡𝓢 2023-2024: 𝓢𝓲𝓰𝓷𝓮𝓭 𝓞𝓯𝓯

𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝐺𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑂𝑟𝑔𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑎𝑐𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑚𝑖𝑐 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟 2023-2024 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑢𝑛𝑏𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑗𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑦 𝑜𝑛 𝑀𝑎𝑦 16, 2024. It was a remarkable day for the whole school community where they applauded the committed, consistent, and exemplary service of the SGO officers throughout the school year round.

Throughout the journey, every leader under this organisation has helped every Sienan and every faculty with their unshakable passion to serve and lead. These driving forces pushed them to develop friendly, caressing, and welcoming activities from the very beginning until the ending. Verily, it was not the responsibility that pronounced them, rather it is the 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 to continue being the servant-leaders.

Now, every rock that we stumbled upon, the storms we thought we could not surpass, and dry seasons where we sometimes do not realise that is the time we are being moulded to become better ones—are now lauded to. Heedless of unforeseen circumstances, we remained adamant to continually provide a great anchor for students to be holistically enhanced.

Yet, every closed door is another factor to learn more. Another closing statement is another opening one to move on. And, every ending is another beginning. 𝐴𝑠 𝑆𝐺𝑂 𝑂𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑠, 𝑤𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑑𝑎𝑦–𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑗𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑦 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑦𝑒𝑡 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑜𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 "𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐸𝑛𝑑."

We refuted to back down despite unchaining our bond. We buckled up regardless of this saddening circumstance. We are still unified to implant in our minds, "𝙒𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩. 𝙒𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚.”

The Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Parish was filled with an air of celebration on May 19th, as the Notre Dame-Siena College of Tacurong held its baccalaureate mass for the graduating and completing batch of 2023-2024. The four corners of the church was filled with the presence of proud parents, beaming with pride and gratitude for their children's achievements. Presiding over the sacred mass was Rev. Fr. Allen Polaron, DCC, whose homily reflected on the invaluable gifts of friendship, knowledge imparted by dedicated teachers, and the nurturing guidance of their alma mater, all of which have prepared the graduates for the journey that lies ahead.

Rev. Fr. Allen Polaron, DCC, ended the Eucharistic celebration by reminding the ND-SCT community, "hindi lahat ng paalam ay malungkot" [not all goodbyes are sad] and "hindi lahat ng paglisan ay kawalan dahil may kagandahan sa pamamaalam" [not all farewells are losses because there is beauty in goodbyes].

Acts 20:35, “I have shewed you all things, how that laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

As leaders and as individuals, we are ought and delighted to share our resources: time, talents, and treasures. As the year-end program concluded, the SGO Officers of Batch 2023-2024 had given the tokens they reserved for the tricycle drivers who taught us to value sacrifices despite the troubling circumstances we may face. They deserve more than ice cream to eat, but simple kindness always makes a big difference.

As one tricycle driver had said, “Salamat sa ice cream niyo ga, tatak Siena.”

Let us continue being dedicated to our stewardship and service. Kindness is free, make it abundant for everybody.

We do not remember the days, but rather the moments. It's a wrap, Sienans!✨

On May 16, 2023, we celebrated our Year End Activity, a day filled with joy and camaraderie. Students brought their old clothes👕 and markers for a shirt-signing activity, enthusiastically exchanging signatures and messages. Some even brought paint to put their handprints on each other's shirts, creating colorful and lasting mementos of our time together.

During the event, students from grades 7, 8, 9, and 11 presented thoughtful tokens to the grade 10 and 12 students, honoring the completers and graduates. This heartfelt gesture added a special touch to the celebration. The SGO officers then surprised everyone with free ice cream🍦, making the event even more memorable and adding to the festive atmosphere.

As we conclude this chapter and begin a new journey, we cherish the bonds we've formed and the memories we've created. Though we part ways, the friendships we've built will continue to grow and flourish.

“Let our devotion be the rhythm and our deeds the tune, honoring your name, O Lord.” On this blessed day, May 17, 2024, we gather in unity for the Holy Mass to witness the installation of new Handmaids of the Altar and the commissioning of Lectors, guided by Rev. Fr. Francis Jay Beruño, DCC. United in our mission, we glorify God through our actions, embodying the hymn of service and dedication.

In his homily, Fr. Beruño reminded us of our calling to nurture and lead with love, echoing Christ’s command to Peter. With humble reverence, we seek the blessings and guidance of God and Mother Mary, dedicating ourselves to a journey marked by non-retaliation and fortified by love.

As we strive to be beacons of understanding and unity, let us work tirelessly to heal the wounds of rejection and dismantle the walls of prejudice, trusting in the promise of divine salvation. Together, we aspire to be agents of change, shining the light of Christ’s love in every corner of our lives.

Congratulations to our newly dedicated Handmaids of the Altar and commissioned Lectors! May your journey in these roles be filled with blessings and joy as you continue to inspire and lead by example.
