The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) officially opens the Call for Proposals for the CY 2027 Competitive Grants Program.

Anchored on Republic Act No. 7356 or the NCCA Charter, the program provides financial assistance to individuals, cultural workers, NGOs/POs/IPOs, NGAs, LGUs, SUCs, and organizations whose projects contribute to the development, protection, preservation, promotion, and dissemination of Philippine arts and culture.

NOTE: All proponents must first secure NCCA Accreditation and must not have any unliquidated grant or derogatory record with the NCCA or any government agency.

It was an honor for ABE International Business College to be invited to participate in the official launching of the Secret Kitchens of Samar (SKOS) Food Crawl: Flavors of Catbalogan, which kicked off on April 30, 2026 at the Samar FoodSpark.

As ABE's representative, Tourism and Hospitality faculty member Gwyneth Nicole C. Bardelas went on a flavorful journey through the heart of Samar, experiencing firsthand the authentic local cuisine that defines Samar. The crispy delight of Baduyang Pasayan and Ube, refreshing sweetness of Kahel’s Mango Shake, United Bakery’s famous Marikina Bread, Pahawhawan’s fresh and preservative-free Tinola, and the legendary Tamalos which is Catbalogan’s unique take on the Mexican Tamale--- were delightful not just to the palate but also to the soul.

The event also celebrated a major milestone for Samarnon culture, the book Secret Kitchens of Samar recently triumphed at the 30th Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2025, taking home the titles of Best Book Series in the World and Best Regional Book in the World! A huge congratulations to the team behind this masterpiece for putting Samar on the global culinary map.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Department of Tourism Region 8 for inviting us to be part of this gastronomic milestone. We are inspired to continue celebrating our local flavors and heritage!
