We would like to commend our fellow batchmates, Carl John Bucala and Ryzza Eder, for exemplifying excellence and determination throughout the competition. Alongside teammates Izyl Roche Patricia Nazareno and Joyce Danhel Sumayod, they navigated case challenges, delivered insightful solutions, and proved that students from UP Tacloban can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the country.💪

𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁𝗼’𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴. 𝗜𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘆.

Sa araw na ito, ginugunita natin ang mga bayaning humarap sa digmaan, nagtiis sa gutom, sakit, at kamatayan upang ipaglaban ang kalayaan ng ating bayan. Ngunit ang kanilang sakripisyo ay hindi lamang alaala na dapat alalahanin isang beses sa isang taon. Ito ay panawagan sa bawat Pilipino na huwag manatiling tahimik at walang pakialam sa harap ng mga hamon ng ating bansa.

Ang tunay na paggunita sa kagitingan ay hindi natatapos sa pag-aalay ng parangal sapagkat nagsisimula ito sa paninindigan. Paninindigan laban sa kawalan ng hustisya. Paninindigan para sa katotohanan. Paninindigan para sa bayan.

Hindi pa tapos ang laban para sa bayan. Habang ang presyo ng langis ay patuloy na tumataas at nagpapabigat sa buhay ng karaniwang Pilipino, ang mga tsuper ng jeepney ay patuloy na nakikipaglaban upang hindi tuluyang mawalan ng kabuhayan. Hanggang ngayon, mabagal parin ang pag-usad ng hustisya laban sa mga tiwaling opisyal. Ang lahat nang ito ay patunay na ang ating demokrasya ay nangangailangan pa rin ng matapang na mamamayang handang manindigan.

Kung ang mga bayani noon ay nag-alay ng buhay para sa kalayaan, ang hamon sa atin ngayon ay tumindig, makialam, at maglingkod upang mapangalagaan ang kalayaang iyon. Huwag tayong maging tahimik na saksi sa mga suliranin ng ating lipunan. Sa halip, gampanan natin ang papel bilang tagapagtanggol ng katotohanan, tagapagtaguyod ng pagkakaisa, at tagapagpasulong ng pagbabago.

Ang diwa ng kagitingan ay hindi lamang nasa nakaraan dahil ito’y nabubuhay sa bawat Pilipinong handang tumayo para sa bayan.

As the oil price hike continues to surge across the country, the effects are no longer limited to the transport sector. The recent increases in both diesel and gasoline prices have driven up higher transportation fares, daily food costs, and overall living expenses, making day-to-day life more challenging for many families.

In Tacloban, the impact has become increasingly visible. Jeepney and tricycle drivers are now spending more fuel than they earn, making it difficult to support themselves and their families. Students who frequently commute from nearby towns now face fare increases from ₱30 to ₱40 per trip, while local vendors struggle as higher costs force them to raise prices, which sometimes drives customers away.

Many families now face harder choices in managing day-to-day needs, with students among those most affected. In light of this, the UP Tacloban Student Council expresses deep concern for the current condition of the student body and would like to hear from you through a survey. The survey aims to gather information on how the ongoing oil price hike is affecting your daily lives.

We highly encourage everyone to take a few moments to answer the survey. These responses will help the Council to better understand the situation on the ground, represent the student body’s concerns, and advocate for meaningful action and support.

Ang tunay na tagumpay ay hindi lamang nasusukat sa dami ng tropeo o medalya, kundi sa pusong handang lumaban, maglingkod, at mag-alay ng lakas para sa kinabukasan ng bawat mamamayan. Ang inyong pagsisikap ay lampas sa personal na tagumpay dahil ito ay paninindigan para sa boses ng komunidad na patuloy na nangangarap at lumalaban ng patas.

Sa likod ng bawat sigaw ng tagumpay ay mga kwentong madalas nating hindi naririnig at mga pangangailangang nananatiling tahimik. Mas sapat na suporta, mas makatarungang pondo, at mas matibay na pagkilala sa sakripisyo ng bawat atletang patuloy na lumalaban hindi lamang sa laban, kundi pati sa kakulangan.

The battles at Camp Half-Blood have officially come to an end! After four days of fierce competition, thunderous cheers, and unwavering determination from March 25-28, UP Tacloban’s Sportsfest 2026, anchored on the theme "Iskolar, Kapit-bisig na tahakin ang laban ng panahon! Ugatin ang kahirapan! Magtagumpay kasama ang bayan!" has finally reached its much-awaited conclusion.

Emerging victorious this year is Cabin 3, Batch Kagaris, with 79,850 points, claiming the Overall Champion title after a remarkable display of strength, consistency, and teamwork from Day 1 to Day 4. Trailing just 100 points behind is Cabin 7, Batch Mayari, securing First Runner-Up with 79,750 points, marking their final year with performances that inspired the crowd.

Claiming Second Runner-Up is Cabin 5, Batch Bidhaya, accumulating 64,200 points, showing relentless courage in every challenge, while Cabin 11, Batch FAUP (Five and Up) takes Third Runner-Up with 60,345 points, proving that their experience gives them an edge in every event.

Fourth Runner-Up is the freshmen, Cabin 4, Batch Bahandi, with 52,425 points, marking an impressive showing in their first year. Completing the standings is Cabin 12, Batch Sarigan, in Fifth Place with 24,200 points, reminding everyone that heart and sportsmanship matter as much as skill.

From the sweat on the grounds to the cheers in the stands, and to every batch who dared, persisted, and gave their all, take this energy and courage, and let it fuel not just pride in your batch, but action for the world beyond these gates. We must not forget that the true fight is still out there, and our victories on the field are practice for the battles we must wage in society—toward justice, equity, and collective progress.

#𝐔𝐏𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 | Batch Kagaris emerged victorious over Batch Bidhaya in the final showdown of the Dancesport Competition on Day 1 of Sportsfest 2026. The performance secured Kagaris the championship title in one of the most anticipated events of the day. Meanwhile, Batch Bahandi bagged the People’s Choice Award.
