Activity #7 Vulnerability Case Study

The deities extended their good graces 🌞🌛 and allowed me to SEE 👁️ beyond the hazy vignette! 🕶️ Thus, I have identified the risks of flooding inside the campus. 💧 Using this knowledge in creating the Vulnerability Case study, I elucidate its negative effects and the people it affects. ‼️

Activity #5 Hazard Mapping (03/06/24)

For this activity, The Seer draws... The Empress. 👸

Renowned as the Refuge of Sinners 😌 and the mother of thousands, 🤰 the Empress stands above fertility and maternity. 🏰 Her character exudes an aura of a nurturer and a creator. 🌏 At the same time, she is also known to bring about change and initiative ✊—the desperate need to hold on to creative impulses. 💡

The Seer and their companions, given the task of creating a hazard map, 🗺️ took charge of this creative impulse. 💗 From identifying risks around the campus and plotting them on a map, they embodied the power of initiative. ⚒️ Through this, they were able to take action toward disaster risk reduction which entails the creation of positive change. 😻

Activity #4 Disaster Perspectives (02/20/24)

For this activity, The Seer draws... Death. 💀

Depicting the Grim Reaper ☠️ riding a white horse, this card holds a dreadful omen: 😨 a sign of fearful destruction. 🏚️ Often revered as an abomination, 🙀 this card–in reality–gives a milder outlook that marks the end and the beginning of a profound transformation. 🧖 Through this card, new modes of contemplation arise 🤔 which play to the universal truth of change. 😵‍💫

Using this new line of thinking, 🍃 The Seer and their companions identified several perspectives of disaster. 🧐 By analyzing droughts using these different perspectives, 🪞 they were able to look through them in a fresh light. 💡 This, ultimately, ushers a more holistic understanding of the powers of nature 🌍 which only shows the mutability of life. 🌳

Activity #3.1 Infographics

Following the risk assessment completed in Activity #2, the DisaSTAR group of 12 - R. Barba is now ready to present their findings.

Choosing earthquakes as our focal point, we have identified 4 risks that would increase the susceptibility of people inside the campus to injury. These are the toppling of trees, landslides, fire, and stampede. Attached to the following pictures are recommendations on how these risks can be mitigated. We hope that upon identification, the appropriate response to these hazards will be leniently implemented by the concerned agencies.

Activity #2 Risk Assessment Form (02/16/24)

For this activity, The Seer draws... The Sun. 🌞

Suggesting happiness and contentment, ☺️ this card generally represents positivity. 🧘 With its joyful depiction of a child riding a horse, 👶🐎 this card ushers a sense of euphoric bliss for the future. 💕 At the same time, the red banner held by the child depicts the gift of attained knowledge 📚📜—a good omen in the opposite of dark days! 🌅

Once given their tasks, the group DisaSTAR 🌟 from 12 - R. Barba was shined with the bright light of The Sun, 🌞 ushering them to use their knowledge 🤓 in assessing risks around the campus. Choosing earthquakes 🏚️ as their focal point, they were able to identify several risks that would elevate the susceptibility of students, teachers, and non-teaching personnel to be harmed in a disaster. ⚠️ Through all of these, they were able to show the luminous vitality of their insight 🧐 towards a safer Leyte National High School. 🏫

Activity #1 (02/13/24)

For this activity, The Seer draws... 🃏 The Four of Pentacles 🪙

Depicting a man clinging to four pentacles, this card represents the feeling of paranoia, 😖 fear, 😞 and insecurity. 😵‍💫 Ultimately, this card opens up the idea of guardedness 🤐—a wall 🧱 put up by fear that is destined to be destroyed eventually. 🔨

The Seer and their companions (affectionally called DisaSTAR 🌟), tasked to look for the dangers ☢️ associated with disasters, were able to knock down this restrictive wall. 🗡️ By analyzing the picture given to them and presenting their findings, they were able to live through the debilitating fear of material insecurity, trauma, and death that comes with catastrophes. 😮‍💨
