Exactly 22 years ago today, on August 7, 2004, the educational landscape of Region VIII was forever transformed. Through the simultaneous passage of Republic Act Nos. 9311, 9312, and 9313, three of the region's premier colleges and institutes were officially elevated to state university status!
Republic Act 9311 formally converted our beloved Leyte Institute of Technology (LIT) into the Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU). For the past 22 years, EVSU has stood tall as a beacon of academic excellence, technological innovation, and steadfast service to the youth. We didn't just change our nameโwe expanded our horizons and deepened our commitment to the community.
We proudly share this joyous occasion and send our warmest congratulations to our sister institutions celebrating their 22nd Charter Anniversaries today:
๐ข Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) - elevated from Eastern Samar State College (RA 9312)
๐ก Samar State University (SSU) - elevated from Samar State Polytechnic College (RA 9313)
Today, we honor the visionary leaders, educators, alumni, and students who have been part of this two-decade journey. Cheers to 22 years of universityhood, and to many more years of shaping the future of Eastern Visayas!

๐๐๐๐ | EVSU opens its 22nd Charter Anniversary celebration on August 6, 2026, with PINTAKASI: Campus Clean-up Drive, mobilizing faculty and staff across the Main Campus to restore work areas, walkways, and green spaces. Organized by the Office of the University President, the simultaneous clean-up embodied the spirit of pintakasiโcommunal unity and cooperationโwhile reinforcing EVSU's ambition to become the National University for Resiliency and Climate Action (NURCA).
By embedding environmental stewardship and daily accountability into campus operations, the initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land), setting a sustainable, community-driven tone for the universityโs ongoing charter festivities.
