The Master in Education major in English program of LNU invites literary scholars and educators to Vernacular Literary Voices: A Literary Colloquium in World Fiction, 1PM today at Room 203, Academic Building, LNU Youngfield Campus. This is co-organized by sophomore BSEd-English students of LNU taking Afro-Asian Literature.

Featured paper presentations cap off INLLURC
Day 2 of the 1st International and 3rd National Language and Literature Undergraduate Research Conference (INLLURC) concluded with a series of featured paper presentations of invited graduate students.
From Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology, Angel Grace Legitimas presented “Interwoven Identities: A Comparative Analysis of the Works of Edilberto and Edith Tiempo.
Master’s students from Leyte Normal University delivered a set of papers. Chariebelle Cabeltis, Noreen Pearl Cajefe, Rubenson Decen, and Marlon Ramirez offered “A Symptomatic Reading of Gregorio Brillantes’ Faith, Love, Time, and Dr. Lazaro,” while Analyn B. Daban and Sharry J. Castino presented “Here-With-God Philosophy of Waiting: A Culturally and Spiritually Grounded Interpretation of Joena San Diego’s Devotional Reflections.”
The exploration of trauma and memory was taken up by Melvin G. Catado, Ruchie Ann Claro, and Dhessa Jane V. Legaspi in their paper “Sonic Configuration of Trauma and Memory: A Psychoanalytic Reading of the Audio Drama Dealing with the Fact That I Killed Myself.” Meanwhile, Bart Angelo Abella, Joan Cyril Abello, Niño Laureano Lumagbas, and Geneveve Ruiz examined Waray cultural expression in “Interpreting Paolo Ay-Ay’s Waray Songs as Expanded Textuality.”
Political and cultural intersections were also highlighted in Charmaine B. Bramida’s paper presentation “Placards and Politics: A Linguistic Landscape Analysis of Leni-Kiko Rallies in Leyte, Philippines.” This paper was coauthored with mentors Asst. Prof. Jufran C. Agustin, Dr. Glenda D. Cadiente, and Ma. Carmie Flor I. Ortego.
Participants noted that these featured papers not only reflected the rigor of graduate research but also demonstrated the role of language and literature studies in addressing cultural, spiritual, and political discourses.

Undergraduate research presentations take center stage at INLLURC
The 1st International and 3rd National Language and Literature Undergraduate Research Conference (INLLURC) held six (6) breakout sessions that featured sixty-two (62) student research presentations in language studies and literary and cultural studies. Six rooms were opened for presentations, with moderators guiding the flow and invited reactors giving feedback to the student presenters.
In the Language Studies sessions, Breakout Room 1 was led by Ms. Jeselle C. Bundos as moderator, with Dr. Glenda D. Cadiente as reactor. Breakout Room 2 had Mrs. Mary Grace S. Fabi as moderator and Dr. Jacqueline I. Espina as reactor. Breakout Room 3 was moderated by Ms. Genevieve Marie T. Bactasa, with Dr. Myrna L. Macalinao serving as reactor. Breakout Room 4 was handled by Mr. Jushua S. Marga as moderator, with Dr. Arlynn C. Aguilar as reactor.
For Literary and Cultural Studies, Breakout Room 5 was moderated by Ms. Allyson Kenchi S. Salvo, with Dr. Ma. Rocini E. Tenasas as reactor. Meanwhile, Breakout Room 6 was led by Mr. Charisse B. Gadaingan as moderator, with Asst. Prof. Jufran C. Agustin as reactor.
Undergraduate students represented different schools across the country. These included Abuyog Community College, Camiguin Polytechnic State College, Cebu Technological University–Moalboal Campus, Cebu Technological University–Tuburan Campus, Leyte Normal University, Northwest Samar State University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo (Laguna), Partido State University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines–Manila, University of Eastern Philippines, University of San Carlos, University of Southeastern Philippines, and Zamboanga Polytechnic State University.
The parallel research presentations showcased the intellectual contributions of undergraduate researchers and the support of faculty mentors. Day 2 of INLLURC highlighted the value of student research and the shared commitment to advancing scholarships in language, literature, and culture.

Language and literary scholars unite as INLLURC kicks off
The 2-day 1st International and 3rd National Language and Literature Undergraduate Research Conference (INLLURC) officially opens today, 27 November, with a series of plenary talks and featured paper presentations.
Hosted by the Languages and Literature Unit of LNU, the event brings together language and literary scholars, undergraduate researchers, faculty mentors, and students from across the Philippines and abroad.
This year’s edition is historic, as INLLURC expands to the international platform while continuing its national tradition of celebrating undergraduate language and literary scholarship.
INLLURC welcomes 24 Philippine and international participating higher education institutions (HEIs).

Specifically, the conference aims to gather BSEd-English, BA English Language/Linguistics, and BA Literature/BA Literary and Cultural Studies undergraduate students to share their research outputs in language education, linguistics, and literary and cultural studies in a virtual platform.
The conference has two presentation streams:

As part of LNU English Month Celebration, the Languages and Literature Unit, in cooperation with English Circle, English Language Studies Enthusiasts, MAEd-Language Teaching and MEd-English Students, and Office of Research and Innovation, will host the 1st International and 3rd National Language and Literature Undergraduate Research Conference (INLLURC) on November 27-28, 2025 via Zoom.
This will be a 2-day full online, virtual research colloquium that will highlight: a) plenary talks of invited international and local speakers who are experts in language and literature research and pedagogy; 2) invited alumni and master’s students who will share their research outputs in the themed paper presentation, and 3) research paper presentations of undergraduate students from public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines and across the globe.

Guidelines in the submission of abstract for paper presentation
1. The submission of abstract is free of charge.
2. The presenter(s) must be able to identify the stream where they are going to submit for presentation.
3. Each stream has a Google Form link where the presenter(s) is going to submit their abstract:

4. Upon submission, the abstract will undergo double blind review by the screening committee.
5. Once the abstract passes the evaluation, the presenter(s) will be e-mailed of their acceptance for presentation.
6. Should there be revisions required by the screening committee, the presenter(s) will re-submit their abstract bearing the changes applied.
7. The paper presenters will be asked to register for their attendance in the virtual conference.
Guidelines in formatting the abstract for paper presentation

2. Do not distort nor remove the official header of the research conference.
3. Use Arial font style and apply 11 font size all throughout the template.
4. Composed of 15-20 words, the title of the study should be typed in capital letters and in boldface.
5. Below the title, write the name(s) of the authors in boldface: First Name MI. Last Name. For multiple authors, separate each name with a comma.
6. Write the school affiliation(s) and the school address below the names.
7. Provide one official and active e-mail address of the first name that appears in the list as the corresponding author.
8. The abstract should be composed of no more than 250 words containing: 1) research objectives, 2) theoretical framework, 3) methodology, 4) results/findings, 5) conclusion/implications, and 6) recommendations.
9. Provide 3 to 5 key words or terms used in the study.
10. All the information aforementioned should be formatted in one page only.
