In accordance with the official declaration from MalacaΓ±ang, April 9, 2026 (Thursday) is declared as a regular holiday in celebration of the 86th Araw ng Kagitingan.
In line with this, Leyte Colleges offices and campuses will be closed on said date, and there will be no classes on all levels.
Araw ng Kagitingan, or Day of Valor, commemorates the Fall of Bataan in 1942 β a significant event in the history of the Philippines where thousands of Filipino and American soldiers endured the Bataan Death March.
While enjoying the break, students and employees are encouraged to reflect on the significance of this holiday and how it shaped our country into what it is today.

ππππππππππ | Movement that lives on
On March 25, the staff and faculty of Leyte Colleges donned purple for the final Purple Wednesday of National Womenβs Monthβan enduring symbol of unity, strength, and advocacy. More than a display of color, it stood as a collective reaffirmation of voices that refuse to be silenced, communities that uplift one another, and a shared commitment to equality. As the celebration comes to a close, the spirit of βWEβ does not fadeβit grows stronger, living on in everyday actions, in the courage to break barriers, and in the continued pursuit of a society where every individual is seen, heard, and valued, proving that empowerment extends far beyond a single month.

ππππππππππ | SSC rolls out free care services for Womenβs Month
Supreme Student Council (SSC) launched a series of free care services today, at Leyte Colleges Activity Center, marking the continuous celebration of Womenβs Month through an initiative centered on empowerment and inclusivity.
Held in partnership with the Tacloban City Governmentβs Community Livelihood and Extension Program (CLEP), the activity aligned with this yearβs theme, βWE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society.β
Students, faculty, and staff availed themselves of free manicure, haircut, and massage services, transforming the venue into a space of wellness and appreciation. Volunteers and organizers worked hand in hand to deliver the services, creating an atmosphere that emphasized care not only for individuals but also for the broader school community.
More than a service drive, the initiative underscored the importance of recognizing womenβs contributions and promoting their well-being. It also highlighted the role of student-led efforts in advancing inclusivity and fostering a culture of respect.
By bringing together partners and volunteers, the SSC initiative demonstrated how collective action can translate advocacy into meaningful community engagementβreinforcing the spirit of Womenβs Month beyond celebration and into action.
