Pax Silica is a United States-led coalition established in December 2025 to reduce reliance and counter China's strength in the tech manufacturing sector, specifically the production of computing components and chips. With that, this coalition seeks to secure supply chains for silicon and other rare earth materials essential to semiconductor production and for the extension of artificial intelligence and other advanced technological industries.

The coalition is composed of nine original members such as the US, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, Israel, UAE, and Australia, all of which are contributing to the security of silicon supply chains. Moreover, the word "Pax" is derived from the Latin word "peace," while "Silica" refers to silicon dioxide, the natural precursor from which silicon is derived.

Ang isyu ng pagtatapon ng basura sa lupaing ninuno ay malinaw na paalala na ang tunay na kaunlaran ay hindi dapat isinusulong kapalit ng kapaligiran at ng buhay ng mga komunidad. Ang bawat mamamayan ay may karapatan sa isang ligtas, malinis, at balanseng kapaligiran, gayundin ang karapatan ng mga katutubong pamayanan na mapangalagaan ang kanilang lupang ninuno at marinig ang kanilang tinig sa mga usaping direktang nakaaapekto sa kanilang kinabukasan.

Hindi lamang ang kalikasan ang unti-unting nasisira, kasabay nitong nalalagay sa panganib ang kalusugan at kinabukasan ng ating mga kababayan. Ang lupang minana natin sa ating mga ninuno ay unti-unting winawasak, na para bang wala silang karapatang mamuhay nang may dignidad at kapanatagan.

โ€ŽPilipino sa Pilipino, tayo ang dapat na magkakampi. Ngunit bakit may mga kababayan tayong patuloy na nasasaktan dahil sa iresponsableng pamamahala at pagtatapon ng basura? Paano uunlad ang isang bayan kung sa simpleng usapin ng pangangalaga sa ating kalikasan ay tila wala pa ring tunay na pananagutan.

Hindi basura ang dapat ilibing, kundi ang kultura ng kawalang-panagutan.

The study examines how government policies shape the quality of disaster risk communication across the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Indonesia using the five dimensions of Risk Communication Theory: timeliness, accuracy, accessibility, transparency, and participation.

๐๐จ๐ฐ ๐‡๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ : Political Science Students for People's Rights, in partnership with the Association of Political Science Students (APSS), JJC LNU, and Kabataan Partylist (KPL), is conducting an online webinar about the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (JJWA) via Zoom today, July 13, 2026. The discussion is led by Atty. Katherine Panguban, who is explaining the significant provisions of the law and its implementation, and Ms. Marc Rechelle Buntag, who is walking participants through the protection of children's rights and welfare, with a particular focus on the age of criminal responsibility.

The online webinar aims to address misleading narratives and misconceptions about the law and to share a clearer understanding and stronger legal awareness of the law.

The Development Academy of the Philippines โ€“ Graduate School of Public Management (DAP-GSPM) held its Cascading Activity under the SDG & Futures Regional Caravan today, July 9, 2026, at Leyte Normal University, gathering academics, local officials, and students for a morning of knowledge co-creation towards sustainable development.

Following the ceremonial turnover of knowledge products and a presentation of DAP-GSPM's program offerings by Director Mark Rex Jayson T. Atole, three research studies were shared with the audience: ecosystem-based adaptation and adaptive governance in the Leyte Sab-a Basin, discussed by Dr. Ara Joy Pacoma-Raytos, followed by the futures of public markets by 2050 through the case of Ormoc City Public Market discussed by Ma'am, Farica A. Zgambo, and lastly the futures of urban barangays by 2040 discussed by Sir, Jean Redi T. Briones โ€” each offering forward-looking insights for local planning and policy.

Members of the Association of Political Science Students were among those present, taking part in the open forum and actively listening to the resource persons on how these frameworks can inform grounded, community-based approaches to governance.

Through this caravan, DAP-GSPM continues its mission of empowering local leaders and communities with the frameworks and foresight needed to navigate the path towards sustainable, future-ready development.
