[CLEP SUMMER 2023]

The oath-taking of the candidates for Level-1 law student practice will be on August 2 and 9, 2023 at the office of the Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court of Tacloban City.

📣 Attention: 2nd and 3rd year students (Regular program), 3rd and 4th year students (Executive Program), and students with irregular load but who have successfully passed ALL their first year subjects.📣

The Clinical Legal Education Program or CLEP is a mandatory course introduced in the law curriculum in 2019. In DVOREF, the program has been integrated in its Juris Doctor program and has begun in AY 2021-2022.

The CLEP is offered in two successive summer terms. In the regular program, CLEP 1 is offered in the second year and CLEP 2 in the third year. While in the executive program, CLEP 1 is offered in third year and CLEP 2 in the fourth year.

This year, the Clinical Legal Education Program will start in August, and to equip the students with the necessary knowledge about the CLEP, an orientation thereon will be conducted on June 2, 2023 at 3pm via Zoom.

During the orientation, the students will be introduced to the fundamental principles of clinical legal education, highlighting the importance of experiential learning and practical skills development, the qualifications and requirements for admission to the program, and the affiliate agencies of the school where the law student practitioners will be assigned during their externship.

The DVOREF College of Law congratulates its newly minted Law Student Practitioners.

The DVOREF College of Law officially welcomes its inaugural batch of law student practitioners (LSPs) who will undergo the Clinical Legal Education Program, pursuant to the Supreme Court A.M. No. 19-03-24-SC.

Hon. Leonito Sabandal, Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court of Tacloban City, administered and officiated the LSP’s oath. Also in attendance were Chairperson Anna Marie Melanie Trinidad of the Legal Education Board; Atty. Hasmin Cristy Avila-Bibar, President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Leyte Chapter; and, Atty. Jovill Del Pilar-Menzon, Deputy Regional Director of the Regional Prosecution Office VIII.

HOUSE RULES

1. The law student practitioners' Zoom username must be in the following format:
SURNAME, GIVEN NAME, MIDDLE INITIAL (ex. MATEO, NICOLE R.).

2. The law student practitioners must observe proper online etiquette and wear the proper
attire during the event. The law student practitioners are required to wear a formal or
business attire (e.g. barong or suit and tie for males; blazer for females).

3. The law student practitioners are encouraged to use the virtual background intended
for the virtual oath taking ceremony. To be properly seen in the screen, a law student
practitioner must be in a well-lit room.

4. The law student practitioners must mute their microphones upon entering the Zoom
room. Cameras are required to be turned on all throughout the event.

5. During the virtual oath taking ceremony, please confirm attendance by accomplishing
the Google Form.

The amended Rule 138-A of the Rules of Court on Law Student Practice is a milestone in Philippine legal practice and profession as it is stemmed from the recognition of the need for legal aid services of the vulnerable and marginalized communities. The amendment is but an embrace of our duty to make legal services accessible to those who need it the most, and, at the same time, to help our students gain important lawyering skills through practical application of their learnings in the classroom.

In faithful compliance with the said Rule, the Dr. Vicente Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation, Incorporated (DVOREFI) College of Law has integrated the Clinical and Legal Education Program (CLEP) in its curriculum. To officially start the program, we will conduct our Virtual Oath-taking Ceremony of our Level-1 law student practitioners on July 4, 2022 at 9:00-11:00am via Zoom.
