"Lupang Hinirang," the national anthem of the Philippines, was commissioned by Emilio Aguinaldo, composed by Julian Felipe, and first performed during the Proclamation of Independence in Kawit, Cavite on 12 June 1898.

The original lyrics in Spanish was written by soldier and composer Jose Palma in 1899 based on his poem "Filipinas," and the lyrics in Filipino was published in 1948. The version we sing today is the translation of Felipe Padilla de Leon, which was released in 1958 and revised in 1963.

We honor history and our country with this rendition of the national anthem by the UP Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Professor Emeritus Josefino "Chino" Toledo.

Maupay nga Adlaw han Kagawasan ha aton nga tanan.
