Marasbaras National High School Extends Immediate Aid to Fire Victims Through “Education Save for Life” Initiative
Tacloban City, April 8, 2026 — In a swift response to a fire incident that struck Barangay 80 at around 2:30 A.M. today, MNHS mobilized its "Education Save for Life" initiative to provide relief goods and used clothing to affected families.
The outreach activity was spearheaded by School Principal Mr. Larry P. Peñalosa, in collaboration with the department heads, who led the collective efforts of teachers, and stakeholders in gathering and distributing donations.
The fire incident has deeply affected the school community, as many of its students and alumni reside in the area. The barangay, under the leadership of Brgy. Captain Jessie Dayandante, warmly received the assistance and expressed gratitude for the immediate support extended to its residents.
Despite the sudden nature of the tragedy, the school community came together to provide essential items such as food and clothing, offering not only material aid but also comfort and hope to those impacted. The initiative highlighted the enduring Filipino spirit of bayanihan, especially in times of crisis.
School officials highlighted that the initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to service and community engagement, reinforcing the idea that education also means nurturing empathy, responsibility, and social awareness among learners.
Marasbaras National High School also extended its sincere appreciation to all donors and volunteers who made the outreach possible. Their generosity has brought timely relief and encouragement to families striving to recover from the incident.
As Marasbaras National High School continues to champion programs that uplift communities, it remains steadfast in its mission to promote not only academic excellence but also compassion and service to humanity.
