In celebration of the 2026 National Dental Health Month, Sto. Niño Elementary School joins the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) in its National Kick-off ceremony via Zoom on February 2, 2026.
Through the leadership of the Philippine Dental Health Visayas Chapter President, Dr. Anthony Samson, SNES celebrated the national kick-off ceremony of the month-long campaign for quality well-being through dental care and awareness. Using the Zoom meeting platform, the school joined the national opening ceremony, watching the national directors lobby the dental health campaign as a major movement across the country.
Simultaneously with the national kick-off was a dental awareness activity that happened in the school quadrangle with Dr. Samson and Dr. Shayne Gatdula. Both dentists shared simple and doable actions in making sure that school children's teeth take its maximum care at home and in school. In a message, Dr. Gatdula mentioned self-care through proper tooth brushing as essential as learning every day in school.
"When we brush our teeth three times a day, we are already making sure that our body is taken cared off well. By reminding ourselves of its importance, we put our support that learning does not only reflect in scores but also by best smiles we share with others."
In a similar reflection, Dr. Samson provided the school children of their project "Best Smiles for Bright Future" campaign, centering on the provision of quality education on how to properly brush their teeth and other similar practices for dental care and protection. "We need you and your support, for each smile is as meaningful as the perfect scores you get in class. We can do this by brushing our teeth properly and consulting our dentists for possible fluoride application and other ways to protect our teeth." He shared.
The Local Government Unit of Tacloban City, through its official representative, Dr. Ruth Ramirez extended their support to the school and the kick-off ceremony by sharing dental items such as toothbrush and toothpaste giving everyone in school the experience of how to properly brush the teeth through dry brushing.
Police Captain Dianeh Jane Eufracio and Police Major Kathlynn P. Talusan also joined the celebration in applying fluoride to all Kindergarten to Grade 3 learners in the school. The collaboration made the entire activity a success despite the inclement weather experienced during the morning event.
Brgy. Education Committee Chairperson, Hon. Arthur R. Solayao graced the event and showed support to the activity sharing the essence of knowing how to take care of the teeth as dental practitioner. He believed that self-awareness about these proper ways will save one from experiencing negative problems on toothache and bad breath.
The event made it more impactful as partners gave their commitment of bringing the good news in their respective homes and daily practices by signing the Commitment wall
