On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. declared martial law and began his dictatorial reign. Human rights were violatedβmany were imprisoned, slain, tortured, or disappeared. While people went without food, the tyrant and his family led a life of luxury.
"In the Hands of the People: A Look Back" will present the history of martial law in Luzon, the faces who fought against it, and the different perspectives of those who experienced it.
Siklab represents as another voice for those who suffered under the Martial Law Era. It aims to ignite passion, love, and justice for the country, that the youth may never forget what happened during the dictatorship of Marcos Sr.
This signifies the long call of the nation for apology, empathy, and explanation. A pursuit to reveal the darkest times of the Philippines.
