Bulanao Central School–Kalinga SPED Center successfully held its International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration yesterday at the BCS Conference Hall, anchored on the theme “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress.”

The program formally opened with a prayer and Filipinism, followed by a lively Zumba intermission number performed by learners with special needs. The highlight of the activity was the message of guest speaker Atty. Precidio A. Castillo Jr., a lawyer and a father of a child with special needs, who shared his personal journey as a parent, including the challenges, acceptance within his family alongside his wife, a medical doctor, and his commitment to advocate for parents of learners with special needs, particularly in improving access to therapy centers. His message resonated with parents, learners, and SPED teachers in attendance.
The activity continued with closing remarks and the sharing of inspiring stories by parents of learners with disabilities, emphasizing resilience, hope, and community support.

Part II of the celebration shifted to classroom-based activities where learners enjoyed gift-giving, parlor games, and snacks. The food and treats were made possible through the generosity of Emilia’s Kitchenette and supportive parents.

The success of the celebration was attributed to the strong support of the school head, Sir Amado Danao, whose leadership reinforced the school's commitment to inclusive education and social progress for learners with disabilities.
