Kalinga State University graduating student proved that excellence knows no boundaries as Arkein S. Bayongasan of the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) emerged as a Provincial Top 10 passer in the Career Service Professional Examination.
Bayongasan, who graduated on May 7, 2026, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, achieved an impressive rating of 87.29 percent in the Career Service Professional Examination conducted on August 10, 2025. What made the feat even more remarkable was that he was still a student when he took the examination.
During the universityโs 33rd Commencement Exercises, Civil Service Assistant Regional Director Ruben U. Wacas formally awarded Bayongasan his Certificate of Eligibility, signifying his qualification for permanent positions in government service.
Beyond his achievement in the civil service examination, Bayongasan also excelled academically and innovatively. He received the Best in Thesis award for his capstone project titled โKALTRIKE: Move in Confidence โ A Mobile Ride Hailing Application.โ The project likewise earned recognition during the DICT StartUP Challenge 10 held in Baguio City, where he became a Regional Qualifier and Top 10 placer.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ronald U. Wacas, CEIT Dean, informed that their college is conducting free civil service examination review. The review program, proposed by BS Mathematics Chairperson, Pommy Frances Viloria, caters to students from non-board programs under CEIT. The initiative aims to strengthen studentsโ preparedness for professional eligibility examinations and has already produced encouraging results, with many CEIT students successfully passing the recent Civil Service Professional Examinations.
University President Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor commended Bayongasan for bringing honor to the university and for demonstrating that KSU students can excel not only in academics but also in national competency examinations.
Bayongasanโs story stands as evidence to determination, innovation, and perseverance. These are the qualities that continue to define KSU graduates as they move beyond the Cordilleras and into a future of limitless opportunities.
