To the Distinguished Members of the Municipal Poverty Reduction Action Committee (MPRAC),
I have received the official composition of the Municipal Poverty Reduction Action Committee (MPRAC), and I wish to formally acknowledge my role as Co-Chairperson.
My life's work has been dedicated to community development. As the founder of the Tabontabon Ace Spikers, Tabontabon Phoenix Strikers, and Hugyaw, my mission has always been to harness the energy of our youth, build character through sports and civic engagement, and create platforms for positive change from the ground up. These organizations were born from a belief in Tabontabon's potential.
Now, with this formal mandate, that belief is coupled with official responsibility. Therefore, I accept this challenge and I take this very seriously.
This position is a powerful convergence of my grassroots experience and our local government's strategic mission. I see it as an opportunity to systematically channel the passion and potential we have cultivated in our courts and communities directly into the policies and programs of our municipality.
I commit to:
Bridging Grassroots Reality with Government Strategy: Ensuring that the MPRAP is not just a document, but a living plan that reflects the real, on-the-ground challenges and opportunities I witness daily.
Mobilizing Youth as Assets in Development: Leveraging the networks and discipline of our youth organizations to support the implementation of poverty reduction programs, from food security initiatives to environmental protection.
Fostering Collaborative Action: Working closely with all sectors represented on this committee—our dedicated farmers, our capable government officials, and our civil society partners—to build a cohesive and united front against poverty.
I am eager to begin our work and contribute my energy and experience to this critical committee. Let us work together to build a Tabontabon where every family thrives and every young person can see a future full of hope and opportunity.

The Cliche of Heights, The Oblivion of Depths
Ours is an existence of an impeccable narrative- a paradoxical metaphor. The persuasions we gravitate to are anecdotes that are parallel to the realities we believe in. And language is the contrivance.
Language shapes our thoughts. Our thoughts shape our persuasions. Our persuasions shape our actions. Our actions shape our habits. Our habits shape our being. Our being shapes the essence of our existence.
And most often than not people subscribe to the notion that the essence of existence is exacted by the height of one's aspiration. We like being at the top. Number 1. The best. Outstanding. And all of the same sort.
I remember a story of three adjacent stores at a corner (I am sorry I don't have a photo of them) along the highway and what caught my attention were their taglines:
Store 1: We are the best in the world!
Store 2: We are the best in town!
Store 3. We are the best at this corner!
I obviously liked its candid humor while the third tagline threw a shade that turned the first two pallid. What got me into deep musing was its breadth. It had me contemplating.
How can one be the best in the world when it is not even the best within the area it stands? Personally, how can you be the best in the world if you have not even bested yourself?
This realization brought me to check again my FB Notification I got about the post on the senatorial, congressional, gubernatorial, mayoral aspirants in the upcoming midterms National and Local Elections in May 2025.
I read through the candidates' vision statements and true enough they have been curated by masterful wordsmiths.
I do not intend to do linguistic analysis, [if that's the right word to use], but I would like to share the common phrases that caught my attention from among these well-crafted vision statements and platforms of government [I doubt]. BIG WORDS. Some too good to be true.
Yes, who doesn't like prestige, grandeur, and prominence anyway? I get that. And people buy these promising rhetorics despite them sometimes being hollow and shallow. That, I don't get.
The glossy rhetorics - music to the ears and some pads to the ego - have since transcended me to a dreamy realm. However, just as I don't want to get lost in my reverie and finally loosen my touch with reality, I humbly propound these questions: where are we now as nation and what have our people become?
And most importantly, are we honestly the best at this corner?
I am not sure what the answers to these questions are, but I am certain that I personally go for a vision that is sincere and is deeply rooted to the core of the Filipino people because I believe that any nation is just as good as its people. One that is not detached from reality, or at least SMART as it should be.
I would go for a vision that comes from self-awareness; that springs from strong personal convictions; that emanates from an emphatic understanding of others; and that manifests a clear sight of what's REALLY going on. Pragmatic.
I would go for something that doesn't subscribe to the cliche of heights and the oblivion of depths; something that doesn't make the bird believe that it can fly but is threatened by the flap of its wings.
