𝗣𝗜𝗧 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟯𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇

The 30th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Leyte Provincial and Tacloban City Eliminations took place on October 9, 2026, with King James Buscay and King Jey Buscay representing the Palompon Institute of Technology PIT Tabango Campus, accompanied by Dr. Christian Caben Larisma, Head of General and Teacher Education.

King Jey secured fourth place in the competition, which was organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)–Leyte Provincial Statistical Office.

The annual competition assesses the statistical knowledge of first-time college freshmen from higher education institutions across the country, providing them with an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of statistics.

Congratulations to King Jey and King James for representing PIT Tabango in this academic endeavor. The campus also extends its appreciation to their coaches for guiding and supporting the students throughout the competition.

𝗔 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 “𝗞𝘂𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗸𝗮?” 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲.

We often measure campus life by lectures, test scores, and project submissions, celebrating the hustle while ignoring the heavy burdens that are silently carried every single day. A simple “Kumusta ka?” can make a world difference for those who are quietly fighting there own battles against academic pressure, personal burdens, and emotional exhaustion. When people asked how we are doing, our automatic response if often “Okay ra ko.” but deep down it's always the exact opposite just to avoid drama.

In a world where everyone expected to constantly keep up and admitting that you are struggling can feel like a weakness. We assume that those people who's truly struggling would speak up; however, we realized the hardest part of struggling is to start the conversation. The fear of being a burden others, seen as incompetent, or having one's feeling dismissed with toxic positivity. This is why we all need genuinel companionship for supportive shoulders to help lighten the weight of these heavy baggages.

As we celebrate World Mental Health Day, let us encourage one another to genuinely ask our classmates, friends, and love ones “Kumusta ka?” with patience and willingness to listen. Let us commit to transforming our campus from one silent endurance into one of active empathy. We don't need to have a mental health professional, sometimes we only need a friend to feel unburden is enough.

To those people who's struggling, hindi ka nag-iisa kasama mo kaming lalaban. Don't hesitate to reach out and open up whenever you are ready. Sending warm, tight hugs to everyone!!🤍

𝗕𝗦𝗘𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵-𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗶-𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆

Camaraderie and fun learning activities took place at the PIT-TABANGO Multi-Purpose Covered Court as students and instructors of BSEd Mathematics and BSEd Science celebrated Sci-Math Day anchored on the theme "Exploring Future through Emerging Technologies and Innovative Solutions", held on 8th of October 2026; despite of the postponement of this activity as it was originally scheduled on September 30, but was moved due to a packed calendar.

In his welcome remarks, Dr, Christian Caben Larisma emphasized that Science and Mathematics are not limited in classrooms.

"They are the keys that unlock the mysteries of our universe, and the tools we use to build a better tomorrow." He also pointed out that as we took steps forward artifical intelligence, biotechnology and innovative problem-solving skills are shaping the world. He ended his message with a quote from the the scripture Proverbs 25:2 and from Johannes Kepler saying, "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of Kings is to search it out."

Afterwards, Mr. Rodrigo Yari Jr., BSEd Science program chair, delivered the purpose and rationale of the said activity where he stated that, "The celebration of the Science and Mathematics Month among the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science and Mathematics is envisioned as an avenue to promote not only academic excellence, but also creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, leadership, and practical application of knowledge."

He also emphasized that the activities in the celebration of Sci-math Day were conceptualized and developed by the collaboration of student officers from Society of Mathematics Students (SMS) and Society of Science Majors (SSciM).

After the opening program, the celebration continued with series of fun and exciting activities showcasing the teamwork of Mathematics and Science students. The Multi-purpose Court echoed as students cheered performing their different songs and yells.

The events were as follows: Poster-Making Competition, Quiz Bee, TUGSAYAWIT, Sci-math Feud, Runway Genius, Escape room, and Sci-Math Bingo.

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and cash for those who won in the aforementioned games.

The group of Marie Curie was hailed as the overall champion followed by Rosalind Franklin, René Descartes and Euclid.

𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪?

The name "Tuko" actually comes from the sound it makes! Its loud voice "tu-KO, tu-KO" is how it got its name. It's like the gecko is introducing itself every night!

This reptile is a nocturnal gecko that sleeps by day and becomes active at night. It is the world's second largest gecko, growing up to 14 inches long, with beautiful bluish-gray skin dotted with bright orange or red spots. Thanks to thousands of tiny hairs on its toes, it can easily climb walls and even ceilings without falling. It is actually a helpful guest that eats cockroaches, mosquitoes, and other insects.

Interestingly, it has no eyelids and licks its eyes clean, and it can regrow its tail if it gets lost. In Filipino culture, having a tuko at home is considered good luck.

‎Palompon Institute of Technology Tabango conducts "Araw ng mga G**o" in celebration with the hardworking teachers in the campus together with the students today, October 6, 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Covered Court.
‎
‎The event started first with a prayer by Dr. Christian Caben M. Larisma and a welcome message from the Campus Director Dr. Catalino L. Centillas Jr., where he pertains that a teacher is not always perfect and how significant teachers can be, then thank them for their dedication and passion as a profession they still continue to live on.
‎
‎After the welcome address, the program continued with a storytelling segment featuring five participating students from different fields, whose stories brought moments of joy and learning to everyone in attendance.
‎
‎The celebration then proceeded with the reading of letters dedicated to teachers, followed by the presentation of video greetings and messages of appreciation from students across various programs under the PIT Tabango Campus. The program also featured the presentation of gifts prepared by students for their instructors, subject teachers, faculty members, and staff, as a gesture of gratitude for their dedication and service.

‎Students, faculty and staffs gathered at the center of the venue for the ' Laro ng Lahi' wherein the participants are students versus teachers, they have played 'Bato-Bato Pick!' and 'Digmaang Pop Chess', the area was full of laughters and joy that echoes all around the campus as they get along with their teachers and other students in one place.

‎To officially close the program, Dr. Deane N. Mendoza delivered a message underscoring the value of appreciating the present.
‎
‎“As I've always say, 'Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift. That is why it is called present.” said Dr. Mendoza in his closing remarks.

Since 1994, we officially admit and prove on this day, October 5th, a theory that teachers have superpowers; not the swinging between buildings and shooting spider webs kind of superpowers (not really sure they can do that). But they can spot a copied homework from 4 feet away, make a room quiet with one stare, and they can make your stomach twist with one call of your name for a recitation. Aside from that, we celebrate them because the world finally came to realize that teaching isn't just their jobs, but they also made other jobs and professions possible.

Ang just like every superhero, behind the masks and superpowers is something very human ang meaningful. Every teacher we've known were the ones who decided that every learner is worth their time, effort, patience, and kindness. They remember your name when you feel unimportant, they keep the small tokens you've given them, they kept imperfect drawings, and they believe in you way before you even think about believing in yourself.

So today, aside from greeting our beloved teachers, let us remind them of their passion that left a mark in our hearts through stories. Let us give them more than just a thank you.

Following the directive of the Campus Director, classes on October 5, 2026, will be conducted asynchronously.

Faculty members are expected to provide appropriate learning activities, tasks, and instructional materials through the Institute's regular learning and communicating platform. They should also inform the students of the necessary requirements and deadlines.

Meanwhile, teaching and non-teaching personnel shall work from home on October 5. They must remain available during regular working hours and coordinate with their respective supervisors and regarding assigned duties and urgent matters

Security personnel shall report on the site based on their assigned schedules to maintain campus safety and security. The Head of the Civil Security Unit will oversee staffing and duty assignments.

𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 | In observance of World Teachers’ Day, work and classes at Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) Tabango Campus will be suspended on Monday, October 5, 2026, as stated in Office Memorandum No. 24, s. 2026, issued by the Office of the Campus Director.

The memorandum, dated October 2, 2026, follows Executive Order No. 22, Series of 2026, issued by the Municipality of Tabango, Leyte, directing the suspension of work and classes in all levels on October 5.

All classes, regular academic activities, office work, and other campus activities shall be suspended, subject to applicable policies covering essential or authorized personnel. Security personnel, however, are excluded from the suspension and shall report according to their assigned schedules.

Regular classes and office operations will resume on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, unless a subsequent order or official announcement provides otherwise.

The suspension provides faculty members and school personnel an opportunity to celebrate and recognize their contributions to education and the development of learners and the community.

Pens have limited lifespan; ink serves as their blood.
When a pen loses its ink, it meant to die--death.
Death is too dark, I guess we should use the word "rest."
They are like humans; after resting, they can be refilled with energy.

Teachers in high school always told us that,
Pupils are just like pens, especially ballpoint pens,
Ballpoint pens gets tired, they might cause harm but they can also help.
Just like humans, we get tired, we hurt people, and we help them and make amends.

It takes time to refill a pen with ink,
Just as it takes for a human's desire to live to return, depending on our dilemmas.
It takes time for us to realize how we contribute to the society as human beings
It takes time for us to know our worth and value.
We are more than just pencils, because we are pens.

Some "users" may throw us away without knowing how to value and care for our existence.
Pencils disappear if they are already empty and drained,
While, pens can be revived, restarted and refreshed, Through all the processed of life, through its ups and downs.

We are the pens of the nation.

We live the life with all of our sweat and blood. With this ink we shed, we leave a mark on the world.

You will be remembered, no matter who you are and what you are.

𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍 | 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲?

The ballot boxes can wait. The barangay officials cannot.

The 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, originally scheduled for November, have been moved to November 2028 after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 12326 on September 24. With the postponement comes another two years for incumbent barangay and SK officials to remain in office.

Two years.

That is not merely an extension on paper. That is two more years of making decisions, managing public funds, implementing programs, and representing communities without the people having the opportunity to decide through the ballot whether these officials should continue.

The postponement has its stated reasons. Elections require significant public resources, while continuity in local governance can prevent ongoing programs and projects from being disrupted. For officials with unfinished work, the additional time may provide an opportunity to see those commitments through.

But an election is not simply a disruption to governance.

It is governance.

It is how citizens exercise their power over the people entrusted with public office.

Barangay officials are perhaps the government representatives people encounter most directly. They are there when roads need fixing, when assistance is sought, when community disputes arise, and when local concerns need someone to listen.

That proximity makes accountability even more important.

If officials are given two additional years, then the people should expect two additional years of visible work, not two additional years of political comfort.

The extension should come with a higher standard, not a lower one.

Finish the projects.

Publish the accomplishments.

Explain the spending.

Listen to the residents.

Address the problems that have been sitting unanswered.

Most importantly, remember who the office belongs to.

It does not belong to the official. It belongs to the people.

Critics, including election watchdog NAMFREL, have raised concerns that postponing elections can weaken the regular electoral accountability that allows citizens to evaluate their leaders. On the other hand, supporters of the extension have emphasized continuity and the opportunity for incumbent officials to continue serving their communities.

Both concerns deserve consideration.

But whatever side one takes on the postponement, one thing should remain non-negotiable, the absence of an election must never become the absence of accountability.

The public does not need to wait until 2028 to ask questions.

Are projects being completed?

Are funds being used properly?

Are constituents being heard?

Are promises being fulfilled?

These questions should be asked now, while the extra two years are being used.

Because when the ballot finally returns in 2028, voters will not simply be choosing names. They will be looking at records.

And by then, every additional month in the office should have something to show for it.

The election may have been postponed.

Accountability was not.

Two more years have been given.

Now, the people have every right to ask: What will you do with them?
