Education students of Amando Cope College gathered at the ACC Audio-Visual Room (AVR), 3rd Floor, CCB Building, on August 20, 2026, for a seminar-workshop on Teacher Identity, Professionalism, and Purpose organized by the Education Department.
Titled โ๐๐ก๐จ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ? ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง,โ the department-wide activity focused on the formation of studentsโ professional identity, values, attitudes, and sense of purpose as future educators.
The program opened with messages from Jeneth Ll. Bagalihog, Ed.D., Dean of the College of Education, and Adhara O. Cope, Vice President for Administration, who graced the occasion and addressed the participating students.
Encouraging the students to remain committed to the teaching profession despite the challenges surrounding the field, Cope said,
Following the opening messages, Mr. Christian B. Llaguno, LPT, MAEngEd, Education Program Coordinator and resource speaker, engaged the participants in an energizer, โHold and Touch,โ which used physical connection and the symbolism of hands and hearts to introduce the importance of human connection in the work of educators.
From there, the discussion moved beyond the lesson plan and toward the teacher behind it. With recent concerns over student safety and violence in schools forming part of the broader conversation on education, Llaguno invited the students to consider the kind of teacher they are preparing to become.

Rather than placing responsibility for student behavior solely on teachers, Llaguno underscored their role in the formation of young people.

The discussion then turned to the influence of teachers beyond the delivery of lessons, particularly how their attitudes, values, words, and actions become part of a learnerโs experience in school.
Llaguno emphasized attitude as a teacherโs greatest asset, while underscoring the need to balance character and competence. Beyond knowledge and instructional ability, he highlighted the importance of how teachers exercise their competence, conduct themselves, communicate, and relate to their learners.
This emphasis on the human dimension of teaching extended to the teacherโs response to students who may be struggling.

Alongside these reflections, Llaguno discussed practical dimensions of teacher professionalism, including professional conduct, communication etiquette, appropriate interactions, and the attitudes expected of those preparing to enter the teaching profession.
The students then turned to personal reflection through โWho Am I Becoming as a Teacher?โ, an activity that invited them to consider the kind of educator they aspire to become and the values they want to carry into their future classrooms. Building on this reflection, the โMy Teacher Identity Commitmentโ activity allowed participants to translate their thoughts into personal commitments concerning their professional growth and practice.
The discussion subsequently moved toward the deeper purpose of teaching as Llaguno shared his personal faith perspective, presenting Jesus as the greatest Teacher and connecting the work of educators with service, love, and the responsibility to influence lives through example.
In his concluding message, Llaguno underscored the qualities he said future educators must carry into the profession:

The seminar-workshop concluded with a synthesis, closing remarks, and a group photo. The Education Department Election followed the activity, allowing students to participate in the selection of their departmentโs student leaders.
The activity forms part of the Education Departmentโs continuing student engagement and professional formation initiatives for Academic Year 2026โ2027 fully supported by the Administration.
