The Coast Guard District Northeastern Mindanao (CGDNEM), through the Coastguard Surigao del Norte, conducted an 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 at Surigao Education Center on September 24, 2026.

Held at the Amphitheater and SEC Grounds, the activity brought together Grade 6 pupils, high school students, and college students for an engaging discussion on water safety, drowning prevention, and responsible behavior in and around bodies of water.

The activity forms part of the celebration of the 𝟭𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (NMWC).

Beyond raising awareness, the campaign provided students with a closer look at the PCG’s capabilities through a static display of its equipment and resources used in maritime safety, search and rescue, law enforcement, marine environmental protection, and emergency response.

Through initiatives like this, the PCG continues to bring its maritime safety advocacy closer to the community, especially to young people, by equipping them with knowledge that can help prevent drowning incidents and promote safer practices in and around the water.
