𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | 𝐒𝐍𝐒𝐔 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦, 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 1𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

SURIGAO CITY, SURIGAO DEL NORTE — Students of Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) and members of SNSU Debate Society made a mark in debate by winning the Champion and 1st Runner-Up titles at the recently held 1st Batang Surigaonon Debate Tournament 2024 last December 7-8, 2024 at the City Cultural Center.

SNSU G, the newly crowned Champion, put on a flawless performance that made an impression on the judges and audience. The team was led by Syrille Elape, a BSED English 4A student, alongside MJ Luis Flores, a BSCE 2B student.

The second team, SNSU B, secured the 1st Runner-Up position. The team consisted of Ehzier Jade Lacia, a BSTM 2A student, and John Cloed Co**ha, a BSED English 2A student whose performance demonstrated SNSU’s depth of talent and unwavering determination.

The third team who emerged as Grand Finalists also includes, Ms.Nina Baybayon (Ab el 2) and Leonard Benzal (Bsed Eng 2A).

A resounding success that would not be made possible without the support of the SNSU Debate Society Adviser and coach, Ms. Cristine Madelo. Who, through the years, remained steadfast with her commitment of shaping young minds in analyzing hypercritical issues of the status quo.

The Batang Surigaonon Debate Tournament 2024 brought together the best young minds from the city to engage in thought-provoking discussions on critical issues. SNSU’s success in securing the top two spots is a testament to its commitment to fostering intellectual growth and leadership among its students.
