In celebration of the 1๐๐ ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐จ๐บ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐, the Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) Research In-House Review 2026, with the theme โ๐ณ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ & ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐,โ kicked off on the second day of the summit, May 21, 2026. The event showcased novel and impactful research conducted by faculty, students, and staff from this yearโs nine (9) distinguished research clusters, with researcher-participants from across SNSU campuses joining virtually via the Zoom platform.
The first day of the RIHR 2026 welcomed researcher-participants, evaluators both external and internal, and this yearโs keynote speaker through an opening ceremony. Dr. Romy Jun A. Sunico, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, delivered the welcome remarks, followed by Mr. Ruel T. Buba, University Research Director, who presented the rationale and objectives that set the direction for the SNSU RIHR 2026.
Equally important, University President Dr. Rowena A. Plando delivered a remarkable and inspiring message, commending the universityโs rigor in conducting and producing research outputs toward attaining its vision: to become โ๐ ๐๐๐๐

Following Dr. Plandoโs inspiring message, Ms. Merdolyn C. Lloren took to the virtual stage to formally introduce the keynote speaker for this yearโs SNSU Research In-House Review 2026: Ms. Mariel P. ๐๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐.โ Her comprehensive and information-packed discussion underscored the power of research in bridging global insights with local realities across all sectors of society. She also highlighted the crucial role of Surigao del Norte State University in shaping the provinceโs economy through research and in building sustainable systems that uphold and strengthen the shared vision for both the province and the global community.
After one of the highlights of the opening ceremony, Mr. Ace Vergel L. Villamor took the opportunity to introduce the distinguished external and internal evaluators for the nine (9) research clusters. These evaluators were tasked with scrutinizing the research papers and presentations to help produce publication-worthy studies, further increasing the universityโs growing number of publications while also providing researchers with a valuable platform in the field of research.
As the opening ceremony concluded, breakout rooms were opened to commence the cluster-based research presentations. To optimize time and accommodate the number of presenters, the first day hosted four (4) clusters, namely: Cluster 1 โ Engineering & Industrial Technologies; Cluster 3 โ Agri-fisheries & Food Systems; Cluster 4 โ Natural & Environmental Sciences; and Cluster 5 โ Computing, ICT, & Data Sciences.
During the second and final day, research presentations continued in the morning with the remaining clusters: Cluster 7 โ Education, Social Sciences, & Developmental Studies; Cluster 8 โ Language and Literature; and Cluster 9 โ Tourism, Business, & Hospitality. After the simultaneous sessions concluded, tabulation for the Best Paper and Best Paper Presenter awards immediately followed in preparation for the awarding and closing ceremony in the afternoon.
The awarding and closing ceremony celebrated the fruits of the researchersโ hard work, as each cluster produced winners for the Best Paper and Best Paper Presenter awards. The ceremony also featured a congratulatory message from University President Dr. Rowena A. Plando, who commended the researchers, the Office of the University Research Director, and the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension for the successful conduct of the SNSU Research In-House Review 2026 and the overall success of the 1st LINGAS Summit 2026.
Mr. Ruel T. Buba, University Research Director, also delivered his felicitations and commendations to the research participants. He extended his gratitude to the esteemed panel of external and internal evaluators, as well as to the organizing team, for the successful conduct of this yearโs SNSU Research In-House Review 2026 through his closing remarks.
The SNSU Research In-House Review 2026 aimed to place the spotlight on the researchers of Surigao del Norte State University by providing their novel studies with the platform they deserve. Through these efforts, the university continues to address local and global trends and challenges in the pursuit of progress and growth.
