🌿 IPED KUMUSTAHAN | Voices Heard, Education Strengthened 🌿

The Schools Division Office of Surigao City, through its Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) Program, brings together IPED implementers in a meaningful Kumustahan Session—a space for listening, sharing experiences, raising concerns, and working collectively toward stronger and more responsive Indigenous Peoples Education.

Led by Marino L. Pamogas, Division IPED Focal Person, the gathering highlights the value of dialogue and collaboration as participants share school-based experiences, identify challenges, and put forward recommendations to further strengthen programs and services for Indigenous Peoples learners.

Through every conversation and shared insight, we are reminded that strengthening IPED begins with listening to the voices of our communities and working together for every learner.

✨ One gathering. Many voices. One shared commitment for inclusive, culturally responsive, and quality education.

"Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Well-being"

Day 5: Training on the K to 12 Curriculum for Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Component.

Today marks another meaningful step in our continuing journey of strengthening culture-responsive education as we engaged in a productive continuation and workshop focused on the Making of Curriculum Brief and Workplace Application Plan.

With hands-on guidance and collaborative effort, participants were given the opportunity to translate learning into practical outputs—crafting curriculum briefs that are aligned with contextualized instruction, and developing workplace application plans that ensure sustainability and real classroom impact. The session highlighted not only understanding, but actual application of principles learned from the previous days.

A sincere appreciation goes to our resource speakers and facilitators for their unwavering support and clear guidance throughout the workshop. Your expertise made complex processes more manageable and purposeful for every participant.

Kudos as well to all our dedicated teacher participants for your active involvement, teamwork, and commitment. Your enthusiasm in accomplishing outputs reflects your strong dedication to delivering meaningful, inclusive, and culturally responsive education for our learners, especially our Indigenous Peoples communities.

Day 4, Training on the K to 12 Curriculum for Indigenous Peoples Education Component.

Today, we deepened our learning on one of the most vital topics in delivering relevant and inclusive education: Principles, Approaches and Skills in Contextualization, led by our very own knowledgeable speaker, Dr. Mlp PamoMarrine , IPEd Focal Person.

Thank you so much sir, for your clear, comprehensive, and insightful discussion! You expertly guided us through the core concepts, best practices, and importance of contextualizing lessons to fit the culture, experiences, and needs of our learners—especially our Indigenous Peoples brothers and sisters. Your wisdom and guidance gave us clearer direction on how to make education truly meaningful and responsive.

Our biggest appreciation also goes to all our dedicated teacher participants. Thank you for your active engagement, for freely sharing your wonderful thoughts, personal experiences, brilliant insights, and lessons learned from your own practice. Your contributions made our discussions richer, livelier, and full of learning for everyone.

Day 3: Training on Indigenous Peoples Education – Focus on DO 62 s. 2011 & DO 51 s. 2014.

Today, we explored the foundational policies of Indigenous Peoples Education: Department Order 62 s. 2011 and Department Order 51 s. 2014. We deepened our understanding of their key provisions, legal basis, and practical application to deliver quality, culturally responsive education for all learners.

A big thank to our very energetic and passionate speaker Sir Manuel Dayondon ,sir Raxiey Adolfo or guiding us through these policies with clarity, enthusiasm, and sights. Your dedication made every discussion engaging and inspiring!

We are also so grateful to all our teacher participants for actively joining in, sharing your own experiences, thoughts, and learnings. Your contributions made the session richer, more relevant, and truly successful.
