SNC/SPUS HS ALUMNI BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT 2018
For our alumni host celebration, the SNC HS Batch 1993 is bringing back the annual SNC/SPUS High School Alumni Basketball Tournament. The competition will kick off on June 16, 2018 and it will be played every Saturday and Sunday at the St. Paul Gymnasium (new site).
ROSTER/ELIGIBILITY
40 UP CATEGORY (BATCH 1995 or EARLIER)
1. The tournament is open only to all SNC/SPUS High School Alumni.
2. All players in the roster must have graduated from high school. The cut off is HS-Batch 1995.
3. High school batches from the above category are allowed to hire, mingle or combine into one team. However, players hired still must be high-school graduates.
4. A mixed hoops team (composed of players from different batches) can represent one HS Class banner.
5. A maximum of 12 or more players are allowed to play. (No Limit)
6. Players from HS class of 1993 being the host batch are not allowed to form a team. However, they can still play and be drafted by other teams.
40 AND BELOW CATEGORY (FROM BATCH 1996 TO BATCH 2013)
1. The tournament is open only to all SNC/SPUS High School Alumni.
2. All players in the roster must have graduated from high school. The cut off is HS-Batch 2013.
3. High school batches from the above category are not allowed to mingle or combine into one team. However, they can hire one (1) player from other batches provided the latter does not have a basketball team to represent in the tournament. A player hired still must be HS graduate. (For instance, Batch 2002 can hire one (1) player from Batch 2003.)
4. A maximum of 12 to 15 players are allowed to play.
5. If the team rosters exceed, the HS class can submit or form another basketball team representing the same HS class banner. (For instance, Team A Class 93 vs. Team B Class 93)
GENERAL RULES
1. All players are required to wear a team uniform. Proper game attire is required in every game. If any players entering the game are not in team uniform, a technical foul will result.
2. Each team will need to have every player sign in (name & jersey #) at the scorer’s table before the game begins.
3. Games will begin at their originally scheduled time unless the game before goes into overtime.
4. The coach, or the team captain is the only person who may confer with the referee.
5. Only the players and the Staffs are allowed to sit on the bench.
6. Since St. Paul gymnasium facilities are available only on Saturday and Sunday, games, therefore, must be played as scheduled. Only under extreme weather conditions or the inability to use the gymnasium facility will this committee cancel a scheduled game.
7. The committee will be responsible for scheduling of games, provide game officials as well as take care of the tournament and publicity.
8. School rules must be respected. Smoking, drinking alcohol and taking drugs are prohibited in all areas of the school and school grounds. Anyone violating this rule will be suspended for an indefinite period from participation.
PLAYING RULES
The SNC Batch 93 Sports Committee follows the FIBA Rules and can be supplemented by the game officiating personnel.
1. A team must have five (5) players that are listed on the roster to start a game. If a team at the start of the game has four (4) players for any reason, that team will have to forfeit the game. However, they will be given ten (10) minute grace period to complete the first-five players.
2. The team must be in the basketball court fifteen minutes before the start of the game. A five-minute pre-game warm up and a five (5) minute half-time rest format will be used.
3. The game will consist of four (4) quarters with (8) eight minute per quarter for the first to third quarter and ten (10) minutes for fourth quarter. (updated not yet final.. )
4. Overtime periods are four (4) minutes long.
5. Profanity of any kind during the game will not be tolerated. Players found guilty of such behavior will receive one technical foul.
6. Two (2) technical fouls by any player during the course of the game will result in that player being ejected from the game and will receive an automatic one game suspension.
7. Flagrant fouls will result in a technical foul per offending player and an automatic ejection and suspension. Any player(s) fighting will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.
SUSPENSION CONDITIONS
1. The SNC Batch 93 Sports Committee and the officiating personnel reserve the right to suspend any player from the tournament, for any period of time he deems appropriate when harmful or abusive language is directed toward officials or members of the opposing team, or for unsportsmanlike conduct of any degree. This also includes the authority to forfeit any game in which an infraction of tournament rules has been committed.
2. Any player suspended or ejected may appeal to the committee following that game. The committee will then investigate the situation and determine if the suspension is waived in the following game.
PROTESTS
1. Protests are permitted on roster disputes only. Protests on the rules of the game will not be accepted. When protesting a player’s eligibility, the team captain must inform the committee, officiating personnel, and opposing team’s captain before the game begins.
2. A protest form must be completed immediately and given to the committee. If the player in question is deemed an illegal player, the team using the illegal player will forfeit that game and any other games in which that player participated.
3. The team subject to protest must submit proof of eligibility three (3) days from the complaint and subject for review by the committee. Failure to comply within the period of time shall be deemed automatic forfeiture of the game.
