DOH Fortifies Youth Against Drug Abuse Through Awareness Campaign at PNHS
Placer National High School (PNHS) Senior High School students and teachers participated in an Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign conducted by the Department of Health (DOH) on [Date], from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the PNHS Covered Court.
The activity aimed to raise awareness among learners about the dangers of illegal drug use and to strengthen their commitment to making healthy and responsible life choices. DOH resource speakers provided valuable information on the harmful effects of drugs on the human body, mental health, and social well-being. They discussed how substance abuse can damage vital organs, impair cognitive functions, affect emotional stability, and negatively impact relationships with family, friends, and the community.
One of the DOH speakers emphasized the importance of informed decision-making among the youth, saying:
“Understanding the harmful effects of illegal drugs is the first step toward prevention. By making informed choices today, our young people can protect their health, achieve their goals, and build a brighter future.”
The campaign also encouraged students to become advocates of a drug-free lifestyle and to influence their peers positively through responsible actions and healthy habits.
As a recipient school of the program, PNHS expressed its gratitude to the Department of Health for extending this important advocacy to its learners. Guidance Counselor Mrs. Maria Luz P. Alaba highlighted the role of education and guidance in helping students stay on the right path.
“Activities like this empower our students with knowledge and awareness. When they understand the consequences of illegal drug use, they are better equipped to make wise decisions that will safeguard their future and contribute positively to society", said Mrs. Alaba.
The successful conduct of the campaign demonstrated the Department of Health's continuous commitment to promoting health awareness and preventing drug abuse among young people, while reinforcing the shared responsibility of schools, families, and communities in creating a drug-free environment.
