SNSU President Dr. Rowena A. Plando led the blessing of several offices at the SNSU Main Campus on August 7, 2026, joined by SNSU officials and personnel.

The blessing ceremony covered the Receiving Office, Curriculum Development Office, Gender and Development (GAD) Office, Internationalization and Linkages Office, Alumni Office, Planning and Development Office (PDO), and the Grotto.

The ceremony offered an opportunity for the University community to come together in prayer, seeking guidance and blessings as the offices continue their respective functions and services to the University.

With Dr. Plando and SNSU officials present, the activity also underscored the administration’s support for creating workspaces that foster collaboration, dedication, and quality service.

August 10, 2026 — SNSU took another step toward advancing food innovation with the Blessing and Official Launching of the SNSU Agri-Food Center at SNSU Mainit Campus.

Led by University President Dr. Rowena A. Plando, together with the University Vice Presidents, the launching and blessing of the offices and innovation center brought together partners from government, industry, academe, and the food innovation sector.

Joining the occasion were DOST Regional Director Engr. Noel M. Ajoc and members of the DOST Food Innovation Team, Dr. Mariero H. Gawat and Ms. Reynalyn M. Abao, whose presence reflected the strong partnership between DOST and SNSU in advancing food technologies and bringing research closer to communities and the market.

Representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Ms. Ninebeth A. Balighot and Ms. Crismalou Guadalupe, also graced the event, highlighting the importance of enterprise development and market support in turning innovations into opportunities. The celebration was likewise joined by MSME partners, the SNSU Food Innovation Center Team, and the faculty and staff of the Mainit Campus led by Campus Director Dr. Juliet Ruth D. Mozar.

The activity also launched the three-day training workshop, featuring discussions on CGMP, LTO requirements, technology and product development, the TRIPOD Policy, and circular economy in food innovation. Participants also took part in a Hackathon on Circular Economy in Food, encouraging students and FIC personnel to develop creative and sustainable solutions to food-related challenges.

The Surigao del Norte State University Board of Regents (BOR) convened for its 16th Regular Board of Regents Meeting on August 5, 2026, at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office in Diliman, Quezon City, with CHED Commissioner Ricmar P. Aquino, Chairperson of the SNSU Board of Regents, presiding over the session.

During the meeting, the Board deliberated on 32 agenda items covering policy, fiscal, administrative, academic, and legal matters, as well as items for confirmation and other institutional concerns.

Following thorough discussions and careful evaluation, the Board approved 91% of the agenda items. The decisions reflected the Board's commitment to ensuring that every action taken upholds sound governance, regulatory compliance, fiscal responsibility, and the best interests of the University.

The University extends its sincere appreciation to the members of the Board of Regents present—Engr. Felix Venson A. Chua, Hon. Noel M. Ajoc, Hon. Atty. Cesar B. Tuozo, Hon. Bernadette P. Ensomo, Hon. Archt. Balzar C. Barcos Jr., Hon. Emmylou A. Borja, and Hon. Nathaniel Paul C. Creencia—for their invaluable insights and thoughtful deliberations.

The University also acknowledges the University officials, agenda proponents, and the Office of the University Board Secretary for their dedicated efforts in preparing for the meeting. Their coordination and support ensured the meeting was conducted smoothly, in an orderly manner, and productively.

August 5, 2026 - Dr. Rowena A. Plando has been unanimously reappointed as SUC President III of Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) for a full term following the approval of Board of Regents Resolution No. 74, s. 2026 during the Special Governing Board Meeting held at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in Quezon City.

Effective August 10, 2026, Dr. Plando will continue serving as the University's second President, reaffirming the Board of Regents' confidence in her leadership and her steadfast commitment to advancing quality education, research, innovation, extension, and good governance at SNSU.

Following the Board's decision, Dr. Plando took her oath of office before CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis in the presence of CHED Commissioner Ricmar P. Aquino and the members of the SNSU Board of Regents, officially marking the beginning of her new full term as University President.

Dr. Plando's reappointment reflects the Board's trust in her vision and leadership, which have guided the University through significant milestones and institutional growth. As she begins another term, SNSU remains committed to building on these gains and pursuing greater excellence in service to its students, stakeholders, and communities.

July 22–24, 2026 — Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) successfully conducted its 2026 Midyear Performance Review and Crafting of the Gender and Development (GAD) Strategic Framework, bringing together the University's key officials, campus directors, college deans, and unit heads to evaluate accomplishments during the first half of the year and chart strategic directions for the remaining months of 2026. Spearheaded by the Planning and Development Office led by Planning Director Dr. Kristopher M. Ngilangil, the three-day activity served as a venue for performance assessment, collaborative planning, and the development of a comprehensive GAD Strategic Framework that will further institutionalize gender-responsive policies, programs, and governance across the University.

In her message, University President Dr. Rowena A. Plando emphasized that strategic planning and gender mainstreaming are essential in realizing the University's 8-Point Agenda and LINGAS Framework, further advancing SNSU's vision of inclusive growth, empowered lives, and a service-focused future.

The activity opened with presentations of the University's operational plan-based accomplishments by the key result areas (KRAs). Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ronita E. Talingting presented the accomplishments under KRA I – Instruction, followed by Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Dr. Romy Jun A. Sunico for KRA II – Research, Innovation, and Extension, and Vice President for Administration Dr. Mauricio S. Adlaon for KRA III – Administration. The review also featured the presentation of the GAA-based Accomplishment Report for the first two quarters and provided a venue for university leaders to evaluate performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that institutional targets remain on track.

The third day focused on the collaborative crafting of the Gender and Development Strategic Framework, facilitated by Mr. Edson B. Alijo and moderated by Engr. Gracechell M. Pascua, Director of the Gender and Development Office.
