SCSC JOURNEY
The aspiration of the South Cotabateños of having a state college in the province was given hope by the passage of House Bill 6202 authored by Hon. This long-time dream was then finally realized when the bill was signed into law by Pres. Duterte last December 13, 2018 and became RA 11150, An act establishing the South Cotabato State College (SCSC) in the municipality of Surallah, pro
vince of South Cotabato, integrating therewith the Surallah National Agricultural School located in the municipality of Surallah, province of South Cotabato, and appropriating funds therefor
RA 11150 mandated the College to provide both advanced instruction and research in agriculture, allied technological sciences, education and its related sciences. It shall also undertake extension and development programs, and provide necessary instructional and research leadership in agriculture, environmental and technological development in the province of South Cotabato and in Region XII. The journey towards attaining recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) was not that easy. It was indeed a very challenging yet fulfilling journey for SCSC family to ascertain that the then Surallah National Agricultural School is undeniably equipped to become South Cotabato State College. A 5 – year development plan was immediately crafted and submitted to the CHED RO XII last March 26, 2019 in preparation for the CHED – Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) visit which materialized last May 21, 2019. The results and findings given by CHED - RQAT, prompted the institution to conduct various trainings and planning sessions to comply with the recommendations of the team. Finally, in January 3, 2020, the draft of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 11150 was successfully submitted to CHED RO XII along with the feasibility study of SCSC and the new 5 – year development plan. Subsequently, all documents in compliance for the proposed three programs were submitted on June 8, 2020. However, due to CoVid-19 pandemic and quarantine measures that were implemented, it was only last August 28, 2020 that the documents for the initial three (3) programs namely: Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Bachelor of Agricultural Technology and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, were conclusively submitted via email to the CHED RO XII. And not long after, December 16, 2020, final evaluation and validation took place and SCSC was proclaimed compliant by the CHED - Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance (OIQAG) evaluating team and is certainly ready to be an HEI. And finally on January 22, 2021, the CHED, through its chairman J. Prospero De Vera III, DPA, conclusively recognized South Cotabato State College as a Higher Education Institution.
